We can assure visitors that the sun is shining and all the normal holiday experiences Noosa is famous for are awaiting them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>He said the Noosa community and Tourism Noosa sent their best wishes and heartfelt thoughts to all those affected by flooding in Queensland and Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Here in Noosa, for the most part we weren&#8217;t affected by the flooding, with only minimal disruption during the worst of the rain,&#8221; Mr Cooper said. &#8220;All our access roads are open and clear, Sunshine Coast Airport is operating as normal, all our accommodation houses are open, tours to our wonderful natural destinations such as the Everglades, Hinterland, Rainbow Beach, Fraser Island and the coral fringed Lady Elliot Island are running as usual, and our beautiful Main Beach is open and filled with holiday makers enjoying the warm weather.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Noosa is delivering the same wonderful holiday experience that it is known for across Australia and around the world.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cooper said while issues such as weather and the strength of the Australian dollar were beyond the control of the tourism industry, operators had risen to the challenge.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The character and strength of service our industry demonstrates is amazing &#8211; they are a credit to the industry and our township,&#8221; Mr Cooper said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite the inclement weather earlier, our seasonal visitors still arrived in traditional numbers and by and large enjoyed a great holiday break, albeit a little shorter due to elements beyond everyone&#8217;s control.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Noosa has worked with members to communicate the message nationally and internationally that Noosa and the Sunshine Coast were largely unaffected by the floods, with messages and up-to-date photos on social network sites including Facebook and the Noosa Blog; updates through our extensive databases; television, radio and newspaper interviews with local, Queensland and interstate media, letting people know that it&#8217;s business as usual; and our Visitor Information Centre volunteers and booking centre staff have been fielding phone calls from around Australia and overseas, letting everyone know that Noosa is a great place to visit now.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cooper said Tourism Noosa is also continuing with its strategic marketing program for 2011 to position Noosa as a strong destination.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our marketing is founded on the needs of the industry and incorporates a large proportion of their advice,&#8221; Mr Cooper said. &#8220;Coming off the back of Queensland&#8217;s flood challenges, the program is timely and well targeted, embracing a strong traditional media presence and ushering in a new and sophisticated digital element that will strongly improve communications with our target audience and most importantly, cement our relationship with them to invite repeat visitation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;February marks the kick-off, with tactical print, digital and radio campaigns across Australia to stimulate some immediate response following the floods and importantly, pointing to a strategic campaign aligned to a sustained winter promotion.
