{"id":8497,"date":"2012-01-01T01:37:00","date_gmt":"2012-01-01T01:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/sydney-new-years-eve-2011-2\/"},"modified":"2012-01-01T01:37:00","modified_gmt":"2012-01-01T01:37:00","slug":"sydney-new-years-eve-2011-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2012\/01\/sydney-new-years-eve-2011-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Sydney New Years Eve 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>SYDNEY REVELLERS SHARE WHY THERE\u2019S NOTHING LIKE NEW YEAR\u2019S EVE IN AUSTRALIA<\/b><br \/><b><br \/><\/b><br \/>Revellers across the world will be able to see for themselves why there\u2019s nothing like celebrating New Year\u2019s Eve in Sydney, thanks to Tourism Australia\u2019s latest digital and social media campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Australia has created a short film overnight featuring footage downloaded by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sydney.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sydney<\/a> revellers sharing their New Year\u2019s Eve experience via an iPhone app created specially to mark the year-end celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>The film titled Project:12 captures the shared experience and emotion of welcoming in the New Year with friends and family against the magnificent backdrop of Sydney\u2019s world-renowned fireworks display.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Australia used its Facebook fan page to source stories of people travelling to Sydney to celebrate with their family and friends, filming Skype interviews, emotional reconnections at the airport and festivities throughout the evening.<\/p>\n<p>These stories were edited together with user-generated video clips, uploaded via the City of Sydney\u2019s NYE iPhone app, and the official broadcast footage of the fireworks within just hours of the midnight celebrations.<\/p>\n<p>Project:12 was released on Tourism Australia\u2019s YouTube channel and distributed internationally via social media networks before many other parts of the world reached their own 2012 countdown.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative is part of a Tourism Australia and City of Sydney joint venture to show the world why there\u2019s nothing like celebrating New Year\u2019s Eve in Sydney, Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Tourism Australia Managing Director Andrew McEvoy believes New Year\u2019s Eve and the world-famous Sydney fireworks display provides the perfect platform to showcase Australia to the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs clocks around the world count down to 2012, we\u2019re looking forward to leading the global celebrations and, through this video, allow revellers across the globe to share in one of world\u2019s most spectacular New Year celebrations and see for themselves why there truly is nothing like Australia for New Year\u2019s Eve, for fun and for a holiday,&#8221; McEvoy said.<\/p>\n<p>For information on travelling to and within Australia, go to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.australia.com\/\">www.australia.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To watch Project:12, go to http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/australia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SYDNEY REVELLERS SHARE WHY THERE\u2019S NOTHING LIKE NEW YEAR\u2019S EVE IN AUSTRALIARevellers across the world will be able to see for themselves why there\u2019s nothing like celebrating New Year\u2019s Eve in Sydney, thanks to Tourism Australia\u2019s latest digital and social media campaign.
