{"id":7989,"date":"2012-07-09T00:30:00","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T00:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/pacific-sun-sails-into-the-cruising-record-books-2\/"},"modified":"2012-07-09T00:30:00","modified_gmt":"2012-07-09T00:30:00","slug":"pacific-sun-sails-into-the-cruising-record-books-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2012\/07\/pacific-sun-sails-into-the-cruising-record-books-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Pacific Sun Sails Into The Cruising Record Books"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-uHTB4kXqjoI\/T_omG-WnoMI\/AAAAAAAAWoc\/oTdP1ulAF_c\/s1600\/PACIFIC%2BSUN%2BFARWELL%2BCREW%2BSHOT_PN%2B2012%2B%2528email%2Bversion%2529-718417.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-uHTB4kXqjoI\/T_omG-WnoMI\/AAAAAAAAWoc\/oTdP1ulAF_c\/s320\/PACIFIC%2BSUN%2BFARWELL%2BCREW%2BSHOT_PN%2B2012%2B%2528email%2Bversion%2529-718417.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span>When Pacific   Sun was farewelled from the P&#038;O Cruises&#8217; fleet at the weekend   she sailed into the record books hailed as the &#8216;backbone&#8217; of the   resurgence of cruising in Australia and New Zealand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Since joining   the fleet in 2004, Pacific Sun notched up some amazing statistics that   are testament to her contribution to the cruise industry on both sides   of the Tasman.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The superliner   returned to Brisbane on Sunday after her farewell seven-night cruise   to the Pacific Islands completing more than seven years with P&#038;O   Cruises during which she has carried more than half a million passengers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Pacific   Sun&#8217;s record achievements with P&#038;O Cruises<a name=\"0.1__GoBack\"><\/a> include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>2707 days deployed (excluding dry docks) <\/span><\/li>\n<li>  <span>767,600 nautical miles sailed (the equivalent of 30 times around the     world)<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<span>314 <\/span><span>cruises with an average duration of 8.6 nights<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li><span>1,168 port calls at 80 separate destinations<\/span><\/li>\n<li>  <span>19 different countries visited <\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<span>178 visits to <\/span><span>Noumea<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<span>571,829 passengers<\/span><span> <\/span>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span>In a video   message, Ann Sherry, CEO of Carnival Australia which operates P&#038;O   Cruises, paid tribute to Pacific Sun&#8217;s crew for their role in building   the ship&#8217;s reputation as Australia&#8217;s favourite cruise ship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;Pacific   Sun has been the backbone of the growth and resurgence of cruising in   Australia,&#8221; Ms Sherry said in the video message.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>&#8220;None   of that would have been possible without all of you and the customer   service you provided to all of those passengers.
