Singer-songwriter Glenn Shorrock is to put on an exclusive solo performance for a select group of Australian travellers during a luxury cruise on China’s Yangtze River.<\/p>\n

The former lead singer and founder of the seventies group the Little River Band will join 2UE’s popular weekend radio hosts George Moore and Paul B Kidd on a 12-day Helen Wong’s Tours “Cruise the Yangtze” tour which will also include three nights in capital Beijing as well as in Shanghai.<\/p>\n

The escorted group tour, which leaves Sydney on October 31, 2012, has been organised to coincide with Helen Wong’s Tours’ 25th Anniversary celebrations, and is priced from $5300 per person, twin share.<\/p>\n

Tour guests will be treated to VIP gatherings in Beijing and Shanghai as well as the one-off show on the cruise from Chongqing through the spectacular Three Gorges to Yichang aboard Victoria Cruises’ Jenna.<\/p>\n

“We are calling it ‘Little River meets Big River Yangtze’,” said Moore who, with co-announcer Paul, will be making a second visit to China after taking listeners on a Helen Wong’s Tours trip in 2010.<\/p>\n

“We’ll climb the Great Wall, tour the historic ‘hutongs’, Beijing’s back alleys, and journey aboard the Maglev, the world’s fastest train,” he said. “The Temple of Heaven, Summer Palace and the Forbidden City will also be covered on the tour.”<\/p>\n

Shorrock, who was inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall Of Fame as a solo artist in 1991 and as a member of Little River Band in 2004, will sing a number of his favourites on the cruise.<\/p>\n

One of his hits – Cool Change – was named among the Top 30 Australian songs of all time during the Australasian Performing Right Association’s 75th Anniversary in 2001.<\/p>\n

“I was in Shanghai and Beijing for one week last year and I’m looking forward to revisiting both cities,” said Shorrock. “China is certainly a different country from what we all thought it was when we were growing up,” he said.<\/p>\n

Helen Wong, who began creating and organising tours to China for Australians in 1987, said she was excited to have such a highly-acclaimed singer-song writer as Glenn Shorrock join 2UE’s George and Paul on the tour.<\/p>\n

“It’s the icing on the cake for such a significant year for us,” she said.<\/p>\n
