{"id":4174,"date":"2010-03-30T08:26:00","date_gmt":"2010-03-30T08:26:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/?p=4174"},"modified":"2010-03-30T08:26:00","modified_gmt":"2010-03-30T08:26:00","slug":"orion-iii-is-very-likely-for-2013","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2010\/03\/orion-iii-is-very-likely-for-2013\/","title":{"rendered":"Orion III is very likely for 2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>by Louise Goldsbury, Editor, <a href=\"http:\/\/cruiseweekly.com.au\/\">Cruise Weekly<\/a><\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.expeditioncruising.com\/search\/label\/Orion%20Expedition%20Cruises\">Orion Expedition Cruises<\/a> is yet to debut Orion II in Asia, but plans are already underway for a third ship. <\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s Orion Expeditions has had such success with the impending launch of its second ship that a third vessel is set to be added within the next three years.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking exclusively to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.expeditioncruising.com\/search\/label\/Cruise%20Weekly\">Cruise Weekly<\/a>, Sarina Bratton, Orion\u2019s founder and managing director, said: \u201cThe way things are going, I absolutely expect we will do.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have already had some discussions with ship owners and we normally have to work two to three years in advance,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>A launch of Orion III in 2012 was \u201cmaybe a bit early, but maybe 2013\u201d, Bratton revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The proposed destinations for a third ship remain under wraps while the company pushes ahead with next year\u2019s program on the new Orion II.<\/p>\n<p>The brochure for 2011 cruises in the Russian Far East and Asia will be released in late April or early May.<\/p>\n<p>Options include Kimberley expeditions with complimentary flights over the Bungle Bungles; three first-time Orion voyages \u2013 \u2018West Papua and Maluku\u2019, \u2018Exploration of the Antipodes\u2019 and \u2018Antarctic Centenary\u2019; Tasmanian food and wine cruises; Lord Howe Island and Aotearoa; Christmas in New Zealand\u2019s fjordland and sub-Antarctic islands; Orion II\u2019s cruises of the Inland Sea of Japan; the Russian Far East; a circumnavigation of Borneo; and eight voyages to Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a \u201csmattering of space\u201d is still available this year on the original five-star, 100-passenger Orion for cruises in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The most immediate opportunities are for \u2018Wild PNG &#038; Bismarck Archipelago\u2019, departing 07 April; \u2018Tropical Reefs &#038; Culture\u2019 on 28 April; \u2018Art of Arnhem Land\u2019 on 04 May; and several Kimberley cruises between May and September 2010. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe way things are going, I absolutely expect we will do\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have got the most exciting destinations on offer in the Asia Pacific \u2013 whether you\u2019re interested in the wilds of Borneo, the cultural aspects of Cambodia, Vietnam or Japan, the remote wilderness of PNG or our brilliant experience in the sub-Antarctic, we\u2019ve got it covered,\u201d Bratton said.<\/p>\n<p>Details of all 2010 and 2011 voyages are available at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orionexpeditions.com\/\">www.orionexpeditions.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>by Louise Goldsbury, Editor, Cruise Weekly Orion Expedition Cruises is yet to debut Orion II in Asia, but plans are already underway for a third ship.
