There’s never been a better time to visit the Frozen Continent with the launch of Gecko’s new affordable range of Antarctic adventures.\u00a0 Gecko’s has introduced three Antarctic voyages to their range of adventures, for departures between November 2012 and February 2013. To celebrate the launch, Gecko’s is offering a 25 per cent early booking discount on bookings deposited by February 29, 2012. (Discount does not apply to triple cabin bookings).<\/p>\n
Operated by Gecko’s sister company Quark, the voyages will be on the Ocean Diamond, a modern, stable and fuel-efficient polar expedition vessel with all fuel emissions being carbon offset.<\/p>\n
Starting and finishing in Ushuaia, Argentina, the itineraries include: 10-day Introduction to Antarctica priced from $4,170, per person, twin share; 11-day Antarctic Explorer from $5,096 per person, twin share and 20-day Falklands, South Georgia and Antarctica from $10,046 per person, twin share. These prices all include the 25 per cent discount. There is a choice of seven different categories of accommodation, from triple and twin cabins to spacious balcony suites. All cabins and suites have private facilities and exterior views.<\/p>\n
\u00a0A comprehensive range of activities is included in the voyage price, including snowshoeing, a photography program, a wellness program (with daily yoga classes) and all voyages will feature an ‘Expert on Board’ – a practicing scientist, historian or researcher from a prominent institution and polar research program who will conduct fieldwork during the voyage and share their knowledge and expertise with guests.<\/p>\n
A program of optional activities is also available on each voyage including kayaking at $980 per person, overnight camping $230 per person, cross-country-skiing $600 person and mountaineering $600 per person. There are limited spaces for these activities and they need to be requested at time of booking.<\/p>\n
There are eleven departure dates between November 2012 and February 2013.<\/p>\n
