In response to Victoria\u2019s devastating bushfires, Victoria\u2019s top tourism attractions will be donating their general admissions takings on the Labour Day Holiday — March 9th 2009 — to the Red Cross\u2019 Victorian Bushfire Appeal Fund. <\/p>\n
With the generous level of support of the industry thus far, it is anticipated that many hundreds of thousands of dollars will be raised, and families will be encouraged to come together and celebrate the public holiday.<\/p>\n
Participating tourism attractions that will be donating all their gate and admission takings on the day include:-

\u2022 Wilsons Promontory National Park (subject to bushfire activity)
\u2022 Sovereign Hill
\u2022 Eureka SkyDeck 88
\u2022 Champions Racing Museum
\u2022 Colonial Tramcar Restaurant
\u2022 Healesville Sanctuary
\u2022 Cooks Cottage
\u2022 SurfWorld, Torquay
\u2022 Cape Otway Light Station
\u2022 Montsalvat, Eltham
\u2022 Yuulong Lavendar Estate Farm
\u2022 Mt Buffalo National Park
\u2022 Adventure Park, Geelong
\u2022 Buchan Caves
\u2022 William Ricketts Sanctuary
\u2022 Central Deborah Gold Mine (Bendigo Trust)
\u2022 City Museum at Old Treasury Melbourne

Additionally, many tourism operators will be giving generously on the day as well with donations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the tourism industry\u2019s chance to show its generosity towards the bushfire recovery effort,\u201d Tourism Alliance Victoria CEO Anthony McIntosh said yesterday. \u201cThis is about families enjoying the best of what Victoria has to offer, and, of course, there’s no better day to go out and see Victoria than on a public holiday.” <\/p>\n
Dozens of tourist destinations were severely affected by the Black Saturday fires, including many within the Yarra Valley, Gippsland and the North-East. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe fires have hit the tourism industry hard. Many tourism businesses have suffered closure, cancellations or had to offer refunds. So, this is a way we can contribute and stand together,” Mr McIntosh said.<\/p>\n
