{"id":22926,"date":"2014-07-09T09:01:00","date_gmt":"2014-07-09T09:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/jiuzhaigou-is-chinas-fairytale-world-2\/"},"modified":"2014-07-09T09:01:00","modified_gmt":"2014-07-09T09:01:00","slug":"jiuzhaigou-is-chinas-fairytale-world-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2014\/07\/jiuzhaigou-is-chinas-fairytale-world-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Jiuzhaigou Is China\u2019s \u201cFairytale World\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"background-color: white; color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">Long before the tourists began to flock to China\u2019s Jiuzhaigou region, local Tibetans revered the national park for its breathtaking natural beauty in naming it &#8220;son of the sea&#8221; . . . a \u201cfairytale world\u201d in western culture.<\/span><\/span><br \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"CF019644\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-491005\" data-mce-selected=\"1\" data-mce-src=\"http:\/\/www.eglobaltravelmedia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/CF019644.jpg\" data-wp-imgselect=\"1\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eglobaltravelmedia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/CF019644.jpg\" style=\"background-color: white; color: #333333; float: right; line-height: 19px; outline: rgb(119, 119, 119) solid 1px; resize: none;\" width=\"180\" \/><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"color: #333333; font-family: inherit;\"><span style=\"line-height: 19px;\"><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">Since 1984, when the region was officially recognised as the Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area, the number of guests has grown from a mere 5000 a year to more than 2.5 million.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">Such is the area\u2019s magnetism that during peak seasons, a quota of 12,000 tourists a day is enforced.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">What attracts the visitors to Jiuzhaigou &#8211; at the southern end of the Minshan mountain range, 330 km north of the Sichuan provincial capital of Chengdu &#8211; are the incredible natural multi-coloured lakes, multi-level waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, wildlife, grasslands and the fascinating Tibetan villages.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">In 1992, Jiuzhaigou was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, five years later a World Biosphere Reserve.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">A little more than 50 per cent of the highly elevated area is covered by forests, bamboo and a variety of flowers and herbs. Each autumn, the forest turns a colour of yellow, red and orange \u2013 a photographer\u2019s dream.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">The wildlife habitat is best known as a Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuary.
