Australia\u2019s ultimate mountain bike challenge, the 2015 Snowies Mountain Bike Festival, will be held in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains on 21 and 22 February.<\/span><\/span>

The event tackles more than 125km of rugged mountain terrain, with competitors completing four stages over two days.<\/span><\/div>\n

The first stage features a 5.5km time trial lap followed by the stage 2 Summit Smash with riders ascending 21.5km from Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa to Thredbo Resort.<\/span><\/div>\n

Stage 3 features a fast 24km descent from Thredbo Resort to Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa before the final stage \u2013 a marathon 75km cross country race.<\/span><\/div>\n

While the event has been pegged as one of Australia\u2019s most demanding and iconic mountain bike events, according to Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa General Manager Anthony Cleary, there is an option for less hard-core riders to become involved.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cThose looking for a slightly less demanding challenge can take part in teams of two or three riders.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cAnd instead of competing in all four stages, riders can either take part in the 75 cross-country marathon or a shorter 30km cross-country ride on Sunday 22 February<\/span>,\u201d said Mr Cleary.<\/span><\/div>\n

Solo riders in the Snowies Mountain Bike Festival will be competing for a prize purse of $10,000.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Snowies Mountain Bike Festival is run in conjunction with the Oceania Cross Triathlon Championships and MultiSport Festival taking place in the Snowy Mountains on 28th<\/sup>February and 1st<\/sup> of March, with the support of the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW. The Oceania Cross Triathlon Championships offers a $40,000 prize pool, so those into \u2018Off Road\u2019 can stay on for two full weekends of action-packed racing.<\/span><\/div>\n
