{"id":22248,"date":"2010-05-10T22:06:00","date_gmt":"2010-05-10T22:06:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/new-queensland-tourism-campaign-encourages-grown-ups-to-kid-around-on-the-gold-coast-3\/"},"modified":"2010-05-10T22:06:00","modified_gmt":"2010-05-10T22:06:00","slug":"new-queensland-tourism-campaign-encourages-grown-ups-to-kid-around-on-the-gold-coast-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2010\/05\/new-queensland-tourism-campaign-encourages-grown-ups-to-kid-around-on-the-gold-coast-3\/","title":{"rendered":"New Queensland tourism campaign encourages grown-ups to kid around on the Gold Coast"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tq.com.au\/\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"100\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tq.com.au\/tqcorp_06\/fms\/shadostyles\/sections\/about\/hd_image.jpg\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>A new domestic tourism campaign, which kicks off tomorrow, is encouraging grown-ups to unleash their inner child and splash out on Gold Coast holiday attractions at kids\u2019 prices, Minister for Tourism and Member for Southport Peter Lawlor said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lawlor said the national television, print and online campaign valued at $580,000 was a joint initiative between Tourism Queensland, Gold Coast Tourism, Flight Centre and Infinity Holidays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe \u2018Gold Coast Grown Up Deals\u2019 campaign will promote a range of specials on the Gold Coast designed to entice people to re-explore the region,\u201d Mr Lawlor said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMore than 50 tourism operators involved in the campaign will offer visitors adults-at-kids prices for Gold Coast attractions as well as accommodation deals such as free nights,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Gold Coast MPs Peta-Kaye Croft and Christine Smith said this campaign was being launched at just the right time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe campaign offers a great opportunity for southerners to escape the start of winter and travel north for some fun in the sun,\u201d Ms Croft said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs our southern neighbours start to experience cooler weather we want to keep the Gold Coast\u2019s golden beaches, subtropical weather and fantastic attractions top of mind,\u201d Mrs Smith added.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lawlor said the campaign was a continuation of Tourism Queensland&#8217;s run of great tourism marketing initiatives for the region.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;\u2019Gold Coast Grown Up Deals\u2019 comes off the back of the highly successful \u2018Summer Stays\u2019 campaign which we ran earlier this year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Gold Coast has also featured prominently in Queensland\u2019s Getaway Giveaways\u2019 retail campaign with the inclusion of 40 regional deals.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All of these campaigns showcase the Gold Coast\u2019s stunning holiday assets while offering holidaymakers great deals and incentives to take some time away from home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Gold Coast Tourism CEO Martin Winter said the \u2018Gold Coast Grown Up Deals\u2019 campaign was a great addition to the promotion of the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cooperative promotions make it easy for Australians to choose the Gold Coast, behind the scenes we have worked hard to bring these deals together so that all holidaymakers have to do is to decide which deal suits them and book,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lawlor said domestic tourism was vital to the Gold Coast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the year ending December 2009, more than 3.2 million domestic visitors travelled to the Gold Coast spending approximately $2.8 billion on trips to the region,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lawlor said the \u2018Gold Coast Grown Up\u2019 campaign would run from 8 \u2013 28 May with travel available the end of November.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the campaign or to book your visit \u2013 http:\/\/www.flightcentre.com.au\/goldcoast<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new domestic tourism campaign, which kicks off tomorrow, is encouraging grown-ups to unleash their inner child and splash out on Gold Coast holiday attractions at kids\u2019 prices, Minister for Tourism and Member for Southport Peter Lawlor said.
