\u201cAmerican Express Queenstown Winter Festival has had a great run in the first five of New Zealand\u2019s ten coolest days of winter,\u201d said Lisa Buckingham, Festival Manager.<\/span><\/div>\n

While weather conditions caused drama around the country just prior to the beginning of the Festival, nothing was disrupted despite the need for circuitous travel for some visitors. The snow on Queenstown\u2019s surrounding mountains is the best at the start of the season for a number of years.<\/span><\/div>\n

Kirsteen MacKenzie opened the George FM Apr\u00e8s Ski Sessions at Barmuda bar on Monday, Nick D at The Spire tonight and Dean Campbell at Zephyr tomorrow night.<\/span><\/div>\n

Things get lively again tomorrow lunchtime with the Downtown Day at Earnslaw Park starting at noon, and the infamous MoreFM Drag Race at 12.30pm.<\/span><\/div>\n

Local personalities and businesspeople fiercely vie for the title year after year in this invitation-only event which pits them against each other in a high-speed dash around the park.
