From galleries and studios to old stone buildings and backyard sheds, there is a feast of arts waiting to be discovered on Yorke Peninsula.<\/span><\/span>

Yorke Peninsula Tourism Manager Jo Barrie says \u201cMany people don\u2019t think of Yorke Peninsula as being an art and culture destination, but we have some fabulous local talents in all types of media from traditional oil painting to aerosol art and crafted goods!\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

Many Yorke Peninsula artists are showcasing their artistic talents this month as part of the South Australian Living Artists Festival (SALA). During the SALA Festival, you can visit the following exhibitions on Yorke Peninsula:<\/span><\/div>\n

\uf0b7 \u2018Local Artists Showcase\u2019, The Blue Crab Studio, Ardrossan. Features works by Sam Carter, Jennifer Searle, Antoinette McLean, Robert Landt, Gwen Lutze, and Glenda Rowett.<\/span><\/div>\n
\uf0b7 \u2018Shack Mode – A Celebration of Sun, Sea and Sand\u2019, Harvest Corner Gallery, Minlaton. Participating artists include Julie Aitchison, Samuel Carter, June Faulkner, Trudie Howith, Raelene Lihou, Susan Longbottom, Antoinette McLean, Mark Short, and Ann Wagner.<\/span><\/div>\n

Throughout the year, the Yorke Peninsula Art Trail is a great way to explore the local art scene. With 18 unique venues including artists\u2019 studios, town halls and art galleries from Balaklava to Warooka, Edithburgh to Port Broughton. With over 60 local artists taking part, discover the creative talents of this thriving arts community.<\/span><\/div>\n

Ms Barrie says, \u201cYorke Peninsula\u2019s art community is also gearing up for the biennial Yorke Peninsula Art Exhibition, which will be held at Ardrossan from 17 to 20 April 2014. This is always a fabulous event and exhibition, and a great opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent\u201d.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Yorke Peninsula Art Exhibition has drawn acclaim since beginning in 1999, and has support from well-known local artists including Allyson Parsons, Marie Parsons, Lyn Robins, David R Taylor and Bruce Davey. Prizes are awarded in various competition categories including Open, a recognisable Yorke Peninsula theme, Yorke Peninsula resident artist, Yorke Peninsula Schools and People\u2019s Choice.<\/span><\/div>\n
