Tailored to each season, The Macarthur Food Tour is a gourmet, small coach journey through the hills and dales of the historic Macarthur region around Camden, Menangle, The Oaks and Campbelltown \u2013 a region which became Sydney\u2019s earliest food bowl thanks to the efforts of colonial pioneer John Macarthur who settled the fertile area in 1805 and after whom the area is now named.<\/span><\/div>\n

Hosted by local foodie, Nicci Peverill, the day-long trip starts with tea or coffee, homemade scones and locally produced, award-winning Doolan Country jam at Camden\u2019s Deli D\u2019lish caf\u00e9 before passengers visit the nearby Camden Produce Market at picturesque and historic Camden Town Farm.<\/span><\/div>\n

The spring-themed tour then takes food lovers on a country tour around Menangle and The Oaks to visit some of Macarthur\u2019s best farms, food producers and wineries, including the Camden Community Garden, Leppington Valley Farm and Fussy Grape Winery. Guests learn about each producer along the way and what is in season, with the chance to taste and purchase fresh local produce. After a grazing lunch created by Pretty Picnics in the grounds of the 1820 Georgian farmhouse, Kelvin House, the tour returns to Camden, with every guest receiving a \u2018showbag\u2019 loaded with information, recipes, goodies and samples, as well as the latest copy of \u2018In Macarthur\u2019 magazine.<\/span><\/div>\n

The full day tour, running from 9am on Saturday, October 26, 2013, costs $99 per person including transport, morning tea, lunch, tastings and a showbag.<\/span><\/div>\n
