The former Thai capital city of Sukhothai will once again present a series of the mini-light and sound presentation with one show per month scheduled between February and September, this year.<\/span><\/span>

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said, \u201cThe show aims to showcase the glorious history and culture of this ancient Thai capital as the source of national heritage \u2013 the Thai alphabet, the magical Loi Krathong celebration, firm foundation of Buddhism, fine Teen Chok cloth, ancient chinaware and holy Pho Khun (King Ramkhamhaeng the Great, who reigned over Sukhothai\u2019s golden age during the 13th century).\u201d<\/span>\"unnamed<\/div>\n
Organised by TAT for the first time in 2008, the mini-light and sound performance previews the highlights of the much grander light and sound presentation scheduled during Sukhothai\u2019s annual Loi Krathong and Candle Festival on the full moon of the 12th Lunar month, or falls on 7 November, this year.<\/span><\/div>\n
\"OLYMPUSThis year, the monthly mini show will be held on 22 February, 8 March, 12 April (prior to the Songkran holiday), 10 May, 14 June, 11 July (prior to the Buddhist Lent Day), 9 August (prior to Mother\u2019s Day), and 13 September at Wat Sasri inside the Sukhothai Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Admission to the show is free.<\/span><\/div>\n
The mini light and sound show, classical performances, fireworks display and a Loi Krathong scene starts from 19.00 hrs and lasts about 1.5 hours. Visitors can listen to the narration in several languages including English, Japanese, French and German. At the event, visitors can take part by taking photograph with the performers, floating a krathong or launching a hot-air balloon.<\/span><\/div>\n
Local travel agents normally offer a package to view the show that includes a tour of Sukhothai Historical Park, which is a must-see for all travellers, particularly in the evening when the graceful Buddha images are illuminated by lights.<\/span><\/div>\n
Beside Sukhothai Historial Park, other attractions worth visiting are Si Satchanalai Historical Park, Sangkalok Museum of ancient chinaware, Wat Chang Lom and Ban Hat Sung, which is famous for the unique Pha Sine Teen Chok weaving technique.<\/span><\/div>\n
