Krabi, a beach resort destination on southern Thailand\u2019s Andaman coast, is welcoming more flights and being listed as one of the \u201c52 Places to Go in 2014\u201d by the New York Times.<\/span><\/span>

Mr. Thawatchai Arunyik, Governor of TAT said, \u201cThe increasing number of flights through Krabi Airport, and the recent release by the New York Times that includes Krabi among the \u201c52 Places to Go in 2014\u201d, has further reaffirmed Krabi\u2019s positioning as one of the popular tourist destinations in Thailand and the world.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

Krabi is welcoming more flights both from domestic and international destinations. From 3 February, 2014, Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has announced that it will introduce a direct Kuala Lumpur \u2013 Krabi service with four flights per week, according to local Malaysian <\/span>media reports.<\/span><\/div>\n

MAS\u2019 announcement came as Thai budget airline Nok Air launched a twice-daily Bangkok-Krabi service from 1 January, 2014, and Bangkok Airways\u2019 newly-introduced twice daily flights on the route from March 2013.<\/span><\/div>\n
Meanwhile, from 25 November, 2013, low-cost carrier Thai AirAsia launched a daily direct Singapore-Krabi service and increased the frequency on the Bangkok \u2013 Krabi route to eight flights daily. The LCC also introduced a new direct daily Krabi-Chiang Mai service from 15 December, 2013.<\/span><\/div>\n
During the recent Christmas and New Year holiday, Krabi also welcomed charter flights from Europe. In addition, the province is attracting visitors travelling with charter flights to Phuket during the current winter high season. According to surveys by the TAT Krabi Office, accommodation at various beach destinations both on the mainland and several popular islands of Krabi are reporting an average room rate of 95 per cent during this week. Forward bookings for the coming weeks also look promising.<\/span><\/div>\n
The positive tourism outlook for Krabi is further strengthened with the New York Times\u2019 recent release of its \u201c52 Places to Go in 2014\u201d. The list tags Krabi as \u201cA Phuket-like hideaway, but still unspoiled.\u201d (Read more on 52 Places to Go in 2014<\/a>)<\/span><\/div>\n
Krabi is famous for its myriad of beautiful beaches and islands, particularly Ko Phi Phi and Ko Lanta, and limestone cliffs that draw rock-climbing enthusiasts from around the world.<\/span><\/div>\n
From Bangkok, the flight time to Krabi is 1 hour 20 minutes. From Phuket, the travelling time by car is just under 2 hours and by boat is about 45 minutes.<\/span><\/div>\n
Other airlines operating through Krabi Airport include Thai Airways International and THAI Smile Airlines from Bangkok and Tigerair from Singapore.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
