\u2022 The new LEED-certified Downtown Market Grand Rapids <\/a>includes retail shops, a rooftop greenhouse, a commercial kitchen and the country’s first hands-kitchen for kids.
\u2022 Bijou by the Bay<\/a>, a new 150-seat movie house created by the Traverse CityFilm Festival, has opened in the historic Con Foster building in Clinch Park.
\u2022 Now open for business all year, visit the Historic Vogue Theatre <\/a>in downtown Manistee.
\u2022 Kinderbell interactive outdoor music area will be added to the current Cadillac Sound Garden <\/a>and Sun Dial.
\u2022 After 70 years, the Flint Farmers’ Market <\/a>is returning to downtown Flint in the former Flint Journal printing facility.
\u2022 The village of Clinton will have a Farmer’s Market from May-October on Fridays.
\u2022 Binder Park Zoo<\/a> is making a home in \u201cWild Africa\u201d for their new cheetah exhibit, as well as welcoming three Alaskan bear cubs into a new home with plenty of shade and a water feature.
\u2022 Nelis’ Dutch Village <\/a>is adding a vintage Dutch Ferris wheel to this 4th generation family-owned attraction.
\u2022 Castle Farms in Charlevoix introduces a new garden, \u201cThe Dragon Lair<\/a>,\u201d featuring Norm the Dragon, originally introduced at ArtPrize.<\/p>\n

Museums
\u2022 See the New USS Flier (SS 250) Exhibit at the USS Silversides Submarine Museum <\/a>in Muskegon.
\u2022 The Lincoln Motor Car Heritage Museum is expected to open in summer 2014 on the grounds of the Gilmore Car Museum<\/a>.
\u2022 A new exhibit at Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse <\/a>in Mackinaw City will detail the history of shipping on the Straits of Mackinac.
\u2022 The Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibit \u201cGridiron Glory<\/a>\u201d will be on display at The Henry Ford this fall.
\u2022 Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame will open their museum in the Castle Museum <\/a>in Saginaw.
\u2022 A new German Christmas Museum<\/a>, located within the Old Christmas Station in Frankenmuth, reflects on the history of Christmas decorating and the Brewery Museum <\/a>focuses on the city’s brewing history.

\u2022 The Ludington State Park <\/a>features a renovated Beach House on Lake Michigan and a handicap accessible fishing platform.
\u2022 Great Wolf Lodge <\/a>has added a whitewater rafting element to its waterpark.
\u2022 Traverse City has completed a nearly $3 million renovation of Clinch Park<\/a>, including a new terraced lawn area with stone sitting walls, interactive playground equipment, a kayak launch and a splash pad.
\u2022 The Traverse Tall Ship Company<\/a>, operators of the schooner Manitou, have added a new vessel \u2013 the cutter Scout \u2013 to their Traverse City fleet.

Ski Resorts \u2013 Michigan’s winter is in full gear, and ski resorts throughout the state are featuring new improvements in 2014. Mt. Brighton<\/a>, now owned by Vail Resorts, recently underwent more than $10 million in improvements, including new snowmaking equipment, new chairlifts, a new terrain park and hills expansions.Shanty Creek Resorts <\/a>in Bellaire will be offering new rental equipment, additional ski school options, more mid-day slope grooming and extended hours. Caberfae Peaks <\/a>has new snowmaking equipment and towers, new backcountry terrain as well as renovations at the MacKenzie Lodge and Beatie’s Bar & Grille. Traverse City’sMt. Holiday <\/a>ski area is expanding, adding a new zip line that will run almost 400 feet down and back from the lodge. Snow Snake <\/a>in Harrison is offering new drop-in classes this year. Treetops Resort <\/a>has new snow equipment, a Boarder X course, and is now open 7 days a week.<\/p>\n

Hotels
\u2022 The former Lexington Lansing Hotel is now a completely renovatedCrowne Plaza Lansing West <\/a>and includes the newly opened Bordeaux restaurant.
\u2022 The Holiday Inn Big Rapids will be renovated in fall 2014.
\u2022 Traverse City hotel renovations include a $4.5 million upgrade at West Bay Beach Resort<\/a>, a $1.5 million renovation at Days Inn & Suites <\/a>and all 47 rooms at the AmericInn<\/a>. The Super 8 Motel is now a Boarders Inn and Suites by Cobblestone <\/a>complete with renovation.
\u2022 In Muskegon, the Shoreline Inn <\/a>has a new lobby with a bar; the Holiday Inn Muskegon-Harbor <\/a>has undergone a $1.5 million renovation and the Hampton Inn <\/a>of Muskegon has been completely renovated.
\u2022 Renovations at the Ramada Inn <\/a>in Whitehall include the new Woods Bar & Grille.
\u2022 The Holiday Inn Express Adrian will be completely renovated in with all new guest rooms in the First Quarter of 2014.
\u2022 In Cadillac, The Hampton Inn<\/a> is celebrating after a nearly two year renovation. Area hotels including theHoliday Inn Express<\/a>, Days Inn <\/a>and McGuire’s Resort <\/a>have combined for $10 million in renovations over the past 18 months.
\u2022 The Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center <\/a>will begin a $30 million renovation project in February 2014, transforming 1,329 guest rooms and 100,000 square feet of meeting space.
\u2022 Baymont Inn Jackson is under new ownership and is planning renovation projects, including a new fitness room, business center, and guest laundry room.
\u2022 In the Great Lakes Bay Region, Four Points Hotel Saginaw<\/a>, the Sleep Inn <\/a>and the The H Hotel<\/a> in Midland, and the AmericInn Hotel & Suites <\/a>of Bay City have all undergone complete renovations.
\u2022 The Marriott Courtyard on the Campus of Central Michigan University will have a new hotel adjacent to the Chippewa Football Stadium.
\u2022 Pohl Bison Bed & Breakfast <\/a>is a new Bed &Breakfast located in Rosebush.
\u2022 The Country Inn<\/a> & Double Tree by Hilton <\/a>and the Fairfield Inn<\/a>, all in Holland, have undergone renovations this past year.
\u2022 In Ann Arbor, hotel renovations include the Residence Inn North <\/a>(previously Hawthorn Suites) and the Holiday Inn, near the University of Michigan. Additionally, Clarion Hotel <\/a>will undergo renovations in 2014.
\u2022 The Super 8 of West Branch <\/a>has undergone complete renovations in its interior.
\u2022 Amway Grand Plaza Hotel <\/a>is currently renovating 285 guestrooms on the glass tower side. Other Grand Rapids renovations include Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham <\/a>and the Ramada Plaza Grand Rapids<\/a>. The Hotel Royale <\/a>will be reflagged as a Wyndham Garden after an upcoming remodel and the City Flats Hotel <\/a>has opened a new ballroom.
\u2022 The Island House Hotel <\/a>on Mackinac Island will unveil a stunning renovation of its 1852 Grill Room with new d\u00e9cor and featured seasonal menus. Also on the island, Grand Hotel<\/a> has unveiled a new suite in honor of R.D. Musser, Chairman of Grand Hotel and has begun the first phase of a project to return the fa\u00e7ade to the hotel’s historical architecture.<\/p>\n

Resorts
\u2022 Beppi’s courtyard at The Homestead Resort <\/a>in Glen Arbor received a facelift and now offers outdoor dining and two gas fired bonfire pits.
\u2022 Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark<\/a> at Boyne Mountain has added The Big Coulior, dropping and spinning riders through a four-story tube at 38 feet per second.
\u2022 Grand Traverse Resort and Spa <\/a>has installed a new 15-person outdoor hot tub and the Great Wolf Lodge <\/a>in Traverse City is adding a \u201cTen Paw Alley\u201d and expanding it’s Scoops Kid Spa.
\u2022 Zehnder’s Splash Village <\/a>expansion in Frankenmuth includes 32 additional guest rooms, a new 29,000 square foot to the waterpark and new amenities.<\/p>\n

More expansions & improvements
\u2022 The Leelanau Sands Casino <\/a>has undergone a $2.5 million makeover.
\u2022 A new pier will be built at DeVoe Beach on Burt Lake and is set to be complete by July 4, 2014.
\u2022 The Grand Haven Lighthouse <\/a>recently received an upgrade, as did the Grand Haven Musical Fountain<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What’s New in Lodging & Meetings
\u2022 Michigan’s first Aloft Hotel, will be located along Woodward Avenue in the historic David Whitney Building. Opening in 2014, the hotel will offer 136 rooms.
\u2022 Cobo Center’s<\/a> new Grand Riverview Ballroom and Atrium features a 40,000 square foot Grand Riverview Ballroom and offers 21,000 square feet of meeting space directly below.
\u2022 Elvyn Lea Lodge<\/a> in Petoskey (formerly the Boyne Valley Lodge) has remodeled their 22 guest rooms to offer a quality rustic group accommodation experience.
\u2022 Cherry Grove Convention Center in Cadillac will open in February with the ability to host over 1,000 people
\u2022 The new Hilton Garden Inn in Benton Harbor is expected to open in the spring of 2014.
\u2022 Courtyard by Marriott <\/a>has opened in Kalamazoo.
\u2022 Marquette now offers a Settle Inn <\/a>(previously the Super 8), and a new Staybridge Suites <\/a>is scheduled to open in 2014.
