Quintessential Kiwi Rockers \u2018The Exponents\u2019 will headline the American Express Opening Party and Fireworks on Friday 20<\/span>th<\/sup>June, as part of the 40<\/span>th<\/sup> anniversary celebrations at the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival.<\/span><\/span>

No strangers to Winter Festival, lead singer Jordan Luck has performed at the celebrations several times and is delighted to have been invited back to celebrate the festival\u2019s 40th<\/sup> anniversary.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cWe love performing in Queenstown for Winter Festival. There\u2019s definitely something about the crowd, the scenery and of course the season.  It makes for a really groovy vibe.\u201d says Luck.<\/span><\/div>\n

With hits like \u2018Why Does Love Do This To Me?\u2019 and \u2018Who Loves Who The Most\u2019, The Exponents provide sing-along universal appeal to the open-air American Express Opening Party and Fireworks that attracts people from all over New Zealand and further afield.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cSeeing \u2018The Exponents\u2019 live is something of a rite of passage for Kiwis, so they were an obvious choice for the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival 40th<\/sup> anniversary celebrations. We hope crowds will come from far and wide to join in the party, it\u2019s a rare opportunity to see a band of this calibre for free and in such an amazing open-air setting,\u201d says Lisa.<\/span><\/div>\n

Starting from 5.30pm and before the Exponents take to the stage, the top three places from Queenstown\u2019s original song writing contest and talent-hunt \u2018Songstars\u2019 and up-and-coming talent from Christchurch \u2018Nomad\u2019 will perform.<\/span><\/div>\n

A series of locals acts will also take the audience back in time, playing their favourite hits from the last four decades as a further tribute to the Winter Festival\u2019s 40 year celebrations.<\/span><\/div>\n

The outdoor concert will be officially opened by the Hon Bill English, Deputy Leader before the annual and much-anticipated Fireworks display starts at 7pm, announcing the start of Queenstown\u2019s favourite season.<\/span><\/div>\n
