Kicking off this eight-week long celebration of the prized perigord truffle harvest is the launch event at Mercure Canberra on 21 June. This features a rustic French-style long-lunch prepared and served by Mindy Woods (MasterChef<\/em>finalist 2012), Celebrity Chef Tom Walton (Executive Chef of The Bucket List Bondi and Ready Steady Cook <\/em>top chef team) as well as local dessert genius John Marshal (Mr Frugii).<\/span><\/div>\n
For a more hands-on experience with this culinary wonder, exclusive MasterChef Masterclasses will be held at each of the participating Accor Canberra hotel and conducted by celebrity MasterChef contestants. Participants will learn how to cook with truffle, taste the results and have truffle-loads of fun.<\/span><\/div>\n
General Manager Mercure Canberra, Scott Grant said, “Mercure Canberra is delighted to host The Truffle Festival long lunch launch event. Our heritage-listed hotel makes the perfect setting for the rustic French-themed long lunch that will highlight Canberra’s regional wines and produce. Well-loved international celebrity chef Antonio Carluccio is the Festival Patron and will be travelling around the Canberra region to be a part of many Festival activities. With 45 participating venues across the region, visitors will be spoilt for choice with events from gourmet degustation dinners, wine tastings and matchings to truffle hunts.<\/span><\/div>\n
