Born in 1956 Billy is a BMW Isetta 1.35m tall \u2018bubble car\u2019 who roams the town and attends local events encouraging people to spread the Gigatown word.<\/span><\/div>\n

An initiative of Queenstown.com, people are encouraged to post their picture with Billy on Twitter, Instagram or the official Gigatown Queenstown Facebook page with the hashtag \u2018#GigatownQTN\u2019.<\/span><\/div>\n

Those who do will be in the draw to win special prizes and will be safe in the knowledge they\u2019re helping keep Queenstown in the running to win super-fast internet access.<\/span><\/div>\n

Prizes including apparel, frisbees, Gigabytes and advertising, and are drawn online randomly with winners notified via the Queenstown.com website and social media.<\/span><\/div>\n

The video is the first of many that will follow Billy in his Queenstown adventures and help boost Queenstown in the Gigatown rankings.<\/span><\/div>\n

Billy has had a hard life beginning his career as a promotional car commuting to Skippers Canyon every day before spending 15 years off the road.<\/span><\/div>\n

Thanks to \u201ca lot of tender love and care\u201d from Queenstown.com technical director Uan Spijkerbosch Billy has proven he\u2019s \u201cstill got it\u201d and is extremely popular with Queenstowners and tourists alike.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cEvery time I take him out for a spin I have people wanting to take a picture, sit in the driver\u2019s seat and know more about him,\u201d he said.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s a great little car \u2013 he can get up to 110kmph and even do a wheel-stand \u2013 but I can\u2019t drive him up Lake Street or he\u2019ll roll over backwards.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

Billy Bubble will be out and about leading up to the Gigatown competition deadline on September 12 2014 and Uan is encouraging people to keep an eye out for him.<\/span><\/div>\n

Queenstown is currently in seventh place in the Gigatown rankings and only the top five will go through to the final round.
