They have transformed Headland Park into a thriving urban parkland fostering commercial and community interests, education and recreation.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">\u201cThe total cost of the walkway is $204,405 with the NSW SSHAP initiative, aimed at improving public access and enjoyment of Sydney Harbour, contributing $75,000. This new walking track is the final link in the chain of walkways around Headland Park.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">\u201cIt provides a pedestrian pathway from Rawson Park to the Georges Heights Lookout, one of the harbour\u2019s most stunning vantage points, and The Tea Rooms Gunners Barracks, housed in the historic 1873 Gunners Barracks and one of Sydney\u2019s finest restaurants and function centres.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">The new walkway is now part of a two-kilometre walking track that starts on the ridge at Georges Heights Oval and goes through to Balmoral Oval via the Georges Head and Lower Georges Heights Lookouts. The Harbour Trust has installed benches for people to sit and enjoy the views along the route.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">\u201cOur Government wanted to ensure the beauty of these priceless harbourside locations were preserved so they could be enjoyed by as many people as possible.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\"><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"color: #333333; line-height: 19px;\"><span style=\"font-family: inherit;\">\u201cThis new walking track forms part of the Harbour Trust\u2019s vision for Headland Park of an urban parkland linking the site\u2019s natural and cultural assets.
