{"id":1782,"date":"2010-10-05T21:39:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-05T21:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/?p=1782"},"modified":"2010-10-05T21:39:00","modified_gmt":"2010-10-05T21:39:00","slug":"more-virgin-blue-cancellations-as-systems-upgraded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2010\/10\/more-virgin-blue-cancellations-as-systems-upgraded\/","title":{"rendered":"More Virgin Blue Cancellations as Systems Upgraded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>Source: AAP<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Virgin Blue cancelled 16 flights on Wednesday as it upgrades its systems to mend a computer glitch.<\/p>\n<p>The airline&#8217;s web and kiosk check-in services were suspended on Tuesday and are expected to be back on deck by Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Customers can&#8217;t make new bookings or change or cancel an existing booking while the reservation system is offline.<\/p>\n<p>Web check-in, Kiosk check-in and Check-mate are closed until 5am (AEDT) on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>A spokeswoman for the airline said it had announced the  16 flight cancellations on Saturday but a few people may still not know  about them.<\/p>\n<p>Virgin staff will be at airports to assist them, she said.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers are being urged to check in for domestic  flights two hours before scheduled departure time and three hours for  international journeys.<\/p>\n<p>An IT glitch last week sent the airline&#8217;s computer system into meltdown.<\/p>\n<p>Virgin Blue staff nationwide had to process check-ins by hand and flights were cancelled.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of passengers were delayed on Sunday and Monday last week and many were put up in hotels overnight.<\/p>\n<div style=\"visibility: hidden; display: inline;\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Source: AAP Virgin Blue cancelled 16 flights on Wednesday as it upgrades its systems to mend a computer glitch.
