On the Esplanade, Fremantle \u2013 weekend of 13\/14 March, 2010 <\/p>\n

It\u2019s now just days away\u2026 the relocated, rebranded, bigger Chilli Festival and the excitement is reaching fever pitch. <\/p>\n

The popularity of this iconic award-winning event has seen it outgrow its original home at Araluen Botanic Park<\/a>, Roleystone. Now relocated at the Esplanade, Fremantle, the bigger \u2018Araluen\u2019s Fremantle Chilli Festival\u2019 presented by \u2018Go for 2 & 5\u2019 will be held on the weekend of 13th & 14th March. Opening times are\u2026 Saturday, 12noon \u2013 8pm and Sunday, 10am \u2013 5pm. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe Chilli Festival event has grown enormously in popularity since inception due to its unique character and culture of sensational taste treats, infectious vibrant entertainment, plants, produce, demonstrations and reputation for great value. These elements contributed to it taking out Gold at the 2007 WA Tourism Awards (Festivals & Events) and being a finalist in 2008 and 2009\u201d, says Park general manager Rod Ross. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe move to Fremantle facilitates an expansion of the theme and offer visitors greater accessibility options. The proximity of public transport plus the day-of-entry festival pass-out availability will allow patrons the opportunity to explore and experience all that this great port city offers, \u201c he adds. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a reminder of what\u2019s on offer: <\/p>\n

* Almost 80 stallholders offering a diverse range of chilli plants, foods, beverages (including exotic beers, wines and spirits), tastings, products and information. <\/p>\n

+ Some 75 chilli plant varieties on display (including three of the world\u2019s hottest)<\/p>\n

* Non-stop vibrant entertainment all weekend on the centre stage and roving.
* Family-friendly \u2018Carnival\u2019 atmosphere
* Demonstration Centre operating all weekend with Celebrity Chef, Dale Sniffen, conducting Chilli cooking demonstrations interspersed with taste tests and other novelty segments. He\u2019ll be supported by contributions from media personalities, including John Colwill and Jillian O\u2019Shaunessy.
* Non-Chilli lovers will also be well catered for. Most stallholders also offer mild and non-chilli or products.
* SmokeFree Event<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been made to feel very welcome in the Port City through the excellent support of the City of Fremantle and the vibrant local business community, both of which are introducing initiatives to leverage off the \u2018Chilli\u2019 theme over the festival weekend. These include the Esplanade Hotel, Menu Magazine, Fishing Boat Harbour Traders Association, Fremantle Markets, Myer, Bendigo Bank, Fremantle Prison, Kulcha, Fremantle Visitor Centre and Quest Harbour Village. We expect that this festival will provide mutual benefits for all the stakeholders.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Araluen Botanic Park Foundation sees this event as an excellent fundraising and promotional opportunity to assist its important cause at Araluen Botanic Park. Patrons are encouraged to retain their entry ticket to take advantage of a half-price entry offer to Araluen where the \u2018chilli\u2019 theme will continue into April with a wide variety of fruiting chilli plants on display.\u201d <\/p>\n
