\nThe 2013 Blue Mountains Film Festival & Yowie Awards set against the dramatic landscape<\/span>\u00a0of the Jamison Valley and Three Sisters, offers a jam packed long weekend of short films,\u00a0<\/span>family screenings, public programmes, feature films, awards and celebrations.<\/span>\n<\/div>\n

Running over 5 days,\u00a0the evening events hosted at Scenic World\u00a0will showcase award-\u00a0winning films by established and emerging filmmakers from Australia and around the world.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The compelling line up includes critically acclaimed short animation\u00a0‘A\u00a0Cautionary Tail’,\u00a0voiced by international stars and award winning Australian actors,\u00a0Cate Blanchett, David\u00a0Wenham\u00a0and\u00a0Barry Otto.<\/p>\n

All finalists will be vying for the coveted Yowie Awards & Scenic World Grand Prize of\u00a0$5,000. Scenic World is the major sponsor of the third annual festival and will be launching a\u00a0new festival\u00a0event – Family Film Nights.<\/p>\n

The 1.5 hour sessions are set in a relaxed cinema environment, allowing families to share a\u00a0meal and enjoy a special short film program suitable for school age children.<\/p>\n

Festival goers can also upgrade their tickets to adventure down the thrilling new Scenic\u00a0Railway and explore the Jurassic landscape along the Scenic Walkway. Great value\u00a0packages are\u00a0available offering all-day unlimited rides at Scenic World, plus hop-on hop-off\u00a0bus passes, exploring Leura and Katoomba with Blue Mountains Explorer Bus.<\/p>\n

The film festival is unique, incorporating Festival experiences at iconic Mountains venues\u00a0including The Carrington Hotel, the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and the historic cinema,\u00a0Mount Vic\u00a0Flicks.<\/p>\n

In true film industry style, enhanced with Blue Mountains flare, the festival kicks off with a\u00a0rooftop party at The Carrington Hotel with local band the Mezzaphonics, followed by a bus\u00a0trip to the\u00a0Scenic Skyway – gliding across the valley to the first 18+ short film screenings and\u00a0the festival bar.<\/p>\n

Scenic World will also host the Yowie awards presentation, announce its $5000 grand prize,\u00a0and host the after party on Saturday 5 October, hosted by comedian Corinne Grant.<\/p>\n

Other short film highlights include:\u00a0‘Suspended’ written and directed by\u00a0Damien Walsh-\u00a0Howling\u00a0(Underbelly, Ned Kelly),\u00a0‘The Captain’\u00a0directed by\u00a0Nash Edgerton\u00a0(Director of\u00a0The\u00a0Square,\u00a0Bear, Spider\u00a0and actor in\u00a0Zero Dark Thirty, The Great Gatsby, The Wolverine);\u00a0animation short\u00a0‘Butterflies’,\u00a0starring the voices of\u00a0Rachel Griffiths (Brothers\u00a0& Sisters, Six\u00a0Feet Under, My\u00a0Best Friend’s Wedding),\u00a0and\u00a0Nicholas Hope\u00a0(Bad\u00a0Boy Bubby, Scooby-\u00a0Doo)<\/p>\n

The Festival program also includes feature films, a panel discussion and forum (‘Can\u00a0animation change the World’);\u00a0and an intensive comedy writing workshop with Tim\u00a0Ferguson.<\/p>\n
