Two years ago the hotel underwent a $4.3 million makeover, of the hotels suites and public areas,\u00a0to bring the property back to its glamorous glory, so well known by stars of stage and screen over the past two decades.<\/span><\/div>\n

Now, staff trained in discretion and top flight service, and will be dressed in new uniforms designed by David Lawrence, Country Road and Sportscraft will host guests in Sebel style \u2013 sophisticated elegance.<\/span><\/div>\n

\u201cThe Sebel Melbourne Flinders Lane was a well known haunt of the stars of music, stage and screen due to its proximity to the Art Centre, concert halls and theatres. Rumors had it that there was a secret tunnel entrance that could be used by the rich and famous for a quick exit, or private entrance,\u201d he added, \u201cbut these have never been truly substantiated.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

Suite sizes vary from 46sqm to 64sqm and all are generously appointed, including a designer urban kitchenette, a dining area with stone top dining table, a leather chaise lounge with sofa bed, a work desk with cow hide chair, large screen LCD TVs in both the lounge and bedroom, media hub connectivity, iPod docking station and a luxurious bedroom with oversized fully upholstered bed head. All courtyard view rooms have faux European styled balconies that overlook the Parisian styled, private green oasis.<\/span><\/div>\n

The building, which is located at 321 Flinders Lane, was built in 1921 on the former Dr. Jaeger\u2019s Sanitary Woollen System Co. Ltd site, the company later evolving in to the internationally renowned Jaeger fashion House. The building was first tenanted in 1923 and housed various textile and fashion retailers including Wallace Buck & Goodes Pty Ltd, the founder of Henry Bucks & Co Pty Ltd.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
