{"id":16756,"date":"2014-01-09T09:39:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-09T09:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/nsw-centrestage-at-major-tourism-summit-gday-usa\/"},"modified":"2014-01-09T09:39:00","modified_gmt":"2014-01-09T09:39:00","slug":"nsw-centrestage-at-major-tourism-summit-gday-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2014\/01\/nsw-centrestage-at-major-tourism-summit-gday-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"NSW centrestage at major tourism summit G\u2019Day USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"International Convention Centre hotel - artists impression 1\" data-mce-src=\"http:\/\/www.eglobaltravelmedia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/International-Convention-Centre-hotel-artists-impression-1.jpg\" height=\"240\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eglobaltravelmedia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/International-Convention-Centre-hotel-artists-impression-1.jpg\" width=\"286\"><span><span>Exciting new events, venues and attractions in Sydney and New South Wales (NSW) will be showcased to industry leaders in the United States at the G\u2019Day USA tourism summit, 9-10 January 2014, promoting the State as a premier travel and events destination.<\/span><\/span><br \/><span><span><br \/><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div><span>More than 200 invitation-only travel, tourism and marketing professionals will be updated on new developments in NSW during G\u2019Day USA \u2013 an annual event demonstrating Australia\u2019s strengths in business, innovation and tourism in the United States.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>As a sponsor of the summit, Destination NSW will share details of the State\u2019s many exciting developments, such as The Barangaroo Project \u2013 one of the world\u2019s most significant waterfront redevelopments; Sydney\u2019s new White Bay Cruise Terminal; the expansion of the Art Gallery of New South Wales; and the transformation of the Royal Randwick Racecourse.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>Also featured will be the new 20-hectare Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct (SICEEP) \u2013 Australia\u2019s largest and first fully-integrated facility of its kind \u2013 due to open in Darling Harbour in late 2016.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>NSW\u2019s line-up of new events will also be showcased, including The Lion King: The Musical, the world premiere of Strictly Ballroom: The Musical, and Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour: Madama Butterfly.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"International Convention Centre at Cockle Bay - artists impression\" data-mce-src=\"http:\/\/www.eglobaltravelmedia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/International-Convention-Centre-at-Cockle-Bay-artists-impression.jpg\" height=\"226\" src=\"http:\/\/www.eglobaltravelmedia.com.au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/International-Convention-Centre-at-Cockle-Bay-artists-impression.jpg\" width=\"320\"><\/div>\n<div><span>Also on show will be the list of events featuring US sporting stars, including the Major League Baseball Opening Series with LA Dodgers versus Arizona Diamondbacks; Hurley Australian Open of Surfing on Manly Beach luring top ranking US surfers; and skateboarding legend Tony Hawk attending this year\u2019s Vans BOWL-A-RAMA at Bondi Beach.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>Delegates will also receive an update on NSW Best Job in the World winner, \u201cChief Funster\u201d Andrew Smith, who arrived in Sydney from California in late December to launch The Funster Experiment \u2013 a challenge to find 802,000 moments of fun in six-months, one for every square kilometre in NSW.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>Destination NSW CEO, Sandra Chipchase said the vast array of world-class developments and events calendar additions will help NSW meet the goal of doubling visitor expenditure by 2020.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>\u201cSydney and NSW has entered a bold new epoch of investment and infrastructure development, adding new and exciting events and experiences, and strengthening our existing offerings to visitors.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>\u201cThere has never been a better time to visit NSW, with experiences and events to suit every type of traveller.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><br \/><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span>Australia welcomed 464,634 Americans in the 12-month period to end of June 213 \u2013 an increase of 6.1% on the previous financial year.
