{"id":16359,"date":"2007-08-06T12:51:00","date_gmt":"2007-08-06T12:51:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/iconic-shiraz-from-chardy-country-2\/"},"modified":"2007-08-06T12:51:00","modified_gmt":"2007-08-06T12:51:00","slug":"iconic-shiraz-from-chardy-country-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2007\/08\/iconic-shiraz-from-chardy-country-2\/","title":{"rendered":"ICONIC SHIRAZ FROM CHARDY COUNTRY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/picasaweb.google.co.uk\/rodeime\/VINTNEWS\/photo?authkey=z2TXO9lQWUA#5098539064860070418\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/lh5.google.co.uk\/rodeime\/RsGmRCpv0hI\/AAAAAAAAA4I\/MtyWPxzE8MI\/s288\/iconshiraz.jpg\" align=\"left\"><\/a>SOUTH-Eastern NSW\u2019s Bidgeebong Wines can justifiably lay claim to coming up with one of our more distinct drops of Shiraz, both because of the district in which it\u2019s located and the methods used in the vineyard it gets its fruit from.<\/p>\n<p>Located on the outskirts of Wagga Wagga, its grapes come from the so-called Bidgeebong Triangle bounded by Tumbarumba in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, Young, and the Murrumbidgee plain around Gundagai.<\/p>\n<p>Fruit for the just-released 2004 Icon Series Shiraz came from the Billinudgel Vineyard of former naval officer, Peter Paffard and his wife Anne, in the Tumbarumba district \u2013 one that\u2019s more generally regarded as Chardonnay country, but which being protected from chilly alpine winds, also produces exceptional Shiraz fruit that\u2019s quite akin to that from France\u2019s Rhone Valley.      <\/p>\n<p>The Paffards are organic devotees, do not till the soil, avoid sprays, and as they\u2019re totally surrounded by natural bushland, employ backpackers to shoo-off native birds as the grapes ripen.
