{"id":16317,"date":"2008-02-11T10:34:00","date_gmt":"2008-02-11T10:34:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/this-one-was-25-years-in-the-making-2\/"},"modified":"2008-02-11T10:34:00","modified_gmt":"2008-02-11T10:34:00","slug":"this-one-was-25-years-in-the-making-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2008\/02\/this-one-was-25-years-in-the-making-2\/","title":{"rendered":"THIS ONE WAS 25 YEARS IN THE MAKING"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_OY-0d2rKv_Q\/R7lfW-WymMI\/AAAAAAAACj8\/Ibqnt3PdA9Y\/s1600-h\/fratelli7+bottle-706903.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/1.bp.blogspot.com\/_OY-0d2rKv_Q\/R7lfW-WymMI\/AAAAAAAACj8\/Ibqnt3PdA9Y\/s320\/fratelli7+bottle-706903.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>TWO things happened at Leeton in the NSW Riverina 25 years ago:grape-growers Pasquale and Angela Fiumara built a winery on their 10-year old Lillypilly Estate vineyard, and one of their seven sons, Robert began indulging his passion for crafting fortified wines.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>And most years since, Robert has put aside a portion of the fortifieds<br \/>he&#8217;s made from Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Muscat of Alexandria,<br \/>and blended various vintages into occasional releases of late-bottled<br \/>vintage-port styles under the Lillypilly Estate Fratelli 7 (seven<br \/>brothers) label.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>His latest is tagged &#8220;Domenic Blend&#8221; after the Pasquale&#8217;s eldest son<br \/>who encouraged Robert to become a winemaker, and who died in 1987; as<br \/>it includes material dating back 25 years to Robert&#8217;s first-ever foray<br \/>into making fortified wines, its little wonder it has such a beautiful<br \/>depth of mature, rich and complex flavours.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>At $23.50 for a 375ml bottle it&#8217;s a great match with chocolate-dipped<br \/>strawberries or a cheese and fruit platter to finish up a fine dinner.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>OUT OF THE BOX: We truly indulged recently over a birthday-party<br \/>seafood banquet that featured a bottle \u2013 okay, six between half a<br \/>dozen of us \u2013 of the Audrey Wilkinson 2002 Museum Reserve Semillon.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>This really is a knock-out Hunter Valley-style Semillon that abounds<br \/>with lemon, honey and toast flavours, and has enormous citrus aromas<br \/>that burst out of the glass on pouring.
