The second annual Vivid Sydney festival from May to June 21 puts the creative spotlight firmly on the harbour city, according to peak national body, Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF).<\/p>\n

TTF Executive Director Brett Gale said the festival is already building a stellar reputation.<\/p>\n

\u201cVivid Sydney gives tourists yet another reason to come to Sydney,\u201d Mr Gale said, \u201cand offers dozens of spectacular free activities and displays.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAn estimated 200,000 people attended events during Vivid Sydney in 2009, and that figure is expected to be eclipsed this year.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese visitors spend money on transport, meals, souvenirs, concerts, plays and other performances, with an overall economic benefit to Sydney of around $10 million.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the success of the inaugural festival last year, Vivid Sydney is really helping to position Sydney as the Asia\u2010Pacific\u2019s leading creative hub.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr Gale said the festival also helps to promote Sydney internationally.<\/p>\n

\u201cEvents like Vivid Sydney<\/a> demonstrate the variety that Sydney offers and that it is a great destination year round.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe coverage generated last year was seen around the world, with images of the Lighting of the Opera House sails alone seen by 60 million people.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs an anchor event on the Events NSW calendar, Vivid adds significantly to Sydney\u2019s cultural and artistic offering and really does allow the world to see Sydney in a different light.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
