{"id":14481,"date":"2010-10-08T10:24:00","date_gmt":"2010-10-08T10:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/hurtigruten-heads-71-degrees-north-2\/"},"modified":"2010-10-08T10:24:00","modified_gmt":"2010-10-08T10:24:00","slug":"hurtigruten-heads-71-degrees-north-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2010\/10\/hurtigruten-heads-71-degrees-north-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurtigruten heads &#8217;71 Degrees North&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.easier.com\/uploads\/cache\/thumbs\/0\/7\/6\/901\/400x400\/44849\/71-degrees-north.jpg\" imageanchor=\"1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" border=\"0\" height=\"320\" src=\"http:\/\/www.easier.com\/uploads\/cache\/thumbs\/0\/7\/6\/901\/400x400\/44849\/71-degrees-north.jpg\" width=\"400\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Hurtigruten hopes the publicity surrounding new TV series 71 Degrees North will create more interest in its new 2011 Norway brochure.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is set in Norway and sees 10 British celebrities travel from the south to the north whilst competing in extreme challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNorway is currently enjoying a high media profile with the ITV series,\u201d said Kathryn Beadle, Hurtigruten sales and marketing director. \u201cAgents have a real opportunity to capitalise on this, and I hope to see demand increase as the series climaxes, like we did with Joanna Lumley In The Land Of Northern Lights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is the first time the line has produced a standalone Norway brochure, without its worldwide product, in four years, with most of the programme now bookable online.<\/p>\n<p>Trips on offer include traditional daily voyages along the coast of Norway, as well as other itineraries such as a new whale watching adventure \u2013 the first time the operator has offered the chance to search for whales in the summer. Another voyage includes three days in a traditional fisherman\u2019s hut.<\/p>\n<p>The brochure comes six months after the preview was launched and sales are already up 50% year-on-year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur preview brochure performed well and we expect our main brochure with its new itineraries to increase demand further,\u201d Beadle said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have worked hard to ensure everything is now bookable online to help agents, and we have created some new itineraries for them to promote,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>The line also revealed that it would package pre and post-voyage options for customers to extend stays, to make it easier for agents.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in a bid to encourage agents to learn more about Norway, Hurtigruten is running a competition for agents to win cuddly Roy the Reindeer teddies, in conjunction with 71 Degrees North.<\/p>\n<p>Every Wednesday morning, the cruise line will post a question about the previous night\u2019s episode at <a href=\"http:\/\/hurtigruten.co.uk\/agents\">hurtigruten.co.uk\/agents<\/a>, which agents must answer to be in with a chance of winning.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hurtigruten hopes the publicity surrounding new TV series 71 Degrees North will create more interest in its new 2011 Norway brochure.
