South African Airways has announced that flights between Johannesburg and Nairobi will resume today with an additional flight and wide-body aircraft to be deployed.<\/p>\n

According to Tim Clyde-Smith, SAA\u2019s Country Manager for Australasia, a number of Australian passengers heading to East Africa had been affected by delays over the last 48 hours: \u201cWe heard from the Kenyan authorities last night that Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has now reopened and that international flights could resume today,\u201d Tim said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been able to re-arrrange flights for all passengers affected and look forward to ensuring everyone can resume their travel plans, to and from this important tourist destination\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The airport was shut down after fire broke out at the airport in the early hours of yesterday morning. This led to SAA canceling its flights (SA184 and SA185) on August 7 and 8.<\/p>\n

All customers with SAA tickets affected by the Nairobi flight cancellations on the 7th and 8th of August 2013 will be offered assistance either via SAA\u2019s call centres, ticket offices or through their travel agent:<\/p>\n

Rebooking on the next available scheduled or additional flight (same cabin \/ same booking class) subject to space;<\/p>\n
