Though lauded as a land where slow movement is all but a way of life, they\u2019ll be running their hearts out in the one-time royal capital\u00a0Oct. 5\u00a0in a half-marathon aptly dubbed La Procession.<\/span><\/span>

Named for the daybreak processions of Buddhist monks, who walk the streets, bowls at the ready, seeking alms, \u00a0the 2013 event will be the first ever half marathon in Luang Prabang. The route will lead runners\u00a0past the UNESCO World Heritage Site\u2019s iconic attractions, from Phousi Hill, by the palaces of the one-time royal seat and past a plethora of wats.<\/span><\/div>\n
