The hotel boasts a storied history and has played a role in some of the most important events of our time. It served as a WWII military rest and recreation facility in the 1940s, the official campaign headquarters for\u00a0John F. Kennedy\u00a0during the 1960 Democratic National Convention, and as the headquarters for the International Olympic Committee during the 1984 Games inLos Angeles. The Cultural Heritage Board of L.A. named the hotel a Historic Monument in 1969, and guests have access to a historical tour of the property hosted by the L.A.
