Expedition cruise company\u00a0<\/span>Aurora Expeditions<\/a>\u00a0is proud to be supporting the recent \u2018Shackleton Epic Expedition\u2019 by returning the vessel used in the re-enactment, the Alexandra Shackleton, to its native homeland in the UK.<\/span>

The replica of Shackleton\u2019s original lifeboat, the James Caird, is currently on board Aurora Expeditions\u2019 ship, the\u00a0Polar Pioneer<\/a>, heading north along the Argentinean coast as the ship makes its way north to start its 2013 tour of the European Arctic. The public can monitor the progress of the Alexandra Shackleton\u2019s journey home by visiting the\u00a0Polar Pioneer tracker here.<\/a>\n<\/div>\n

Aurora Expeditions also supported the \u2018Shackleton Epic Expedition\u2019 by repositioning the 22.5-foot (6.9m) boat down to Antarctica in November last year.<\/div>\n

In 2014 Aurora Expeditions is offering Shackleton enthusiasts the opportunity to pay their respects on a pilgrimage to Shackleton\u2019s final resting place in South Georgia. Experience hikers will also have the opportunity to join the \u2018Shackleton Crossing\u2019, an option to attempt to cross the jagged peaks of South Georgia from King Haakon Bay to Stromness\u00a0\u2013 the final route of Shackleton\u2019s epic and life-saving expedition in\u00a01916<\/a>.<\/div>\n
