{"id":10390,"date":"2009-04-19T03:50:00","date_gmt":"2009-04-19T03:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/cruise-to-mark-the-100th-anniversary-of-titanic-2\/"},"modified":"2009-04-19T03:50:00","modified_gmt":"2009-04-19T03:50:00","slug":"cruise-to-mark-the-100th-anniversary-of-titanic-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/traveloscopy.com\/travel-news\/2009\/04\/cruise-to-mark-the-100th-anniversary-of-titanic-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Cruise to mark the 100th anniversary of Titanic"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.geocities.com\/capecanaveral\/hangar\/7574\/titanic.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.geocities.com\/capecanaveral\/hangar\/7574\/titanic.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>LONDON &#8211; British travel firm Miles Morgan Travel are accepting bookings for a cruise that will commemorate the <span>Titanic<\/span>&#8216;s tragic voyage in April 1912.<\/p>\n<p>The specialist agency has chartered Fred Olsen\u2019s <span>Balmoral<\/span> for the historic cruise in 2012 to mark the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the <span>Titanic<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The cruise will follow the ship\u2019s original route and include a memorial service in the early hours of the morning of April 15, above the vessel in the Atlantic, exactly 100 years after the ship sank.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"10\" hspace=\"10\" src=\"http:\/\/www.prlog.org\/10193921-balmoral-fred-olsen-cruise-ship.jpg\" alt=\"\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\"><span>Balmoral<\/span> will sail with 1,309 paying passengers &#8211; the same number that sailed on the fateful Titanic voyage.<\/p>\n<p>The ship will leave Southampton in early April and sail close to Cherbourg before docking at Cobh, formerly called Queenstown, in Ireland, where the <span>Titanic<\/span> made its final port of call on April 11, 1912<\/p>\n<p>Miles Morgan, md of Miles Morgan Travel, said: \u2018The <span>Titanic<\/span> still grips the imagination of people throughout the world and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of a unique cruise packed with interest for those with a fascination for the <span>Titanic<\/span> story.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The food served will match the menus on the original voyage, the entertainment will include music and dancing from the era and historians will give talks on <span>Titanic<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>After the service the cruise continues to Halifax where passengers can visit Fairview Lawn Cemetery where 121 <span>Titanic<\/span> victims are buried, along with Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery and Hirsch Jewish Cemetery, which also have graves of Titanic victims.<\/p>\n<p>The cruise will finish in New York, the intended destination of the original voyage.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Seatrade Insider<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>LONDON &#8211; British travel firm Miles Morgan Travel are accepting bookings for a cruise that will commemorate the Titanic&#8216;s tragic voyage in April 1912.
