Opening anticipated for October 2019
Chic British brand Hoxton will debut The Hoxton, LA in a transformed 1925 building that was once the headquarters of the LA Railway Authority. Located in Downtown L.A.’s booming Fashion District at 11th and Broadway, the 10-story hotel features 174 guest rooms, three restaurants by Sunday Hospitality Group including all-day eatery Sibling Rivalry, multiple bars and a rooftop pool.

Soho Warehouse (Arts District, Downtown)
Opening anticipated for October 2019
Soho Warehouse, the third Soho House in L.A. (the others in West Hollywood and Malibu) is located in Downtown L.A.’s Arts District. It marks Soho House’s largest West Coast club and the first to offer bedrooms. The former industrial building includes a rooftop pool, 48 bedrooms and indoor and outdoor club spaces for eating, drinking and socialising. The ground floor is home to a two-story gym along with an underground events space.
Silver Lake Pool and Inn (Silver Lake)
Opening anticipated for November 2019
In November, Silver Lake Pool and Inn will open at Sunset Junction, just south of the lively intersection of Santa Monica and Sunset. The 54-room boutique property run by Palisociety Hotels is set to feature an elevated pool deck and Marco Polo, a coastal Italian-inspired outdoor restaurant and bar.

The Wayfarer DTLA (Historic Core, Downtown)
Opening anticipated for November 2019
The Wayfarer DTLA is a community-focused hotel coming to Downtown L.A.’s historic Broadway Corridor in the former Ritz Milner building. The property will feature 156 rooms, four food and beverage spots and a stairwell gym. Rockefeller Kempel Architects, who spearheaded the beautiful renovation of Hotel Figueroa, is leading this project as the second hotel under the Wayfarer name with the first located in Santa Barbara.
Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel (Fashion District, Downtown)
Opening anticipated for late 2019
Proper Hospitality, the new brand headed by former Viceroy Hotels Chief Brad Korzen, is slated to debut their first Los Angeles hotel in Downtown L.A.’s Fashion District located at the site of the former Case Hotel. The 13-story property, which was originally built in 1924, will have 148 stunning rooms. Caroline Styne and Suzanne Goin, the legendary James Beard Award-winning L.A. restaurateurs known for a.o.c., Lucques, Tavern and The Larder, will oversee the hotel’s scenic first-floor restaurant Calo Verde as well as the stunning rooftop lounge.

The Godfrey Hotel (Hollywood)
Opening anticipated for January 2020
The 60,000-square-foot Godfrey hotel will be a high-end boutique property fit for the lifestyle of the contemporary jet-setting professional. The project features amenities that will allow travellers to conduct business both locally and remotely, while enjoying the unique room and food experiences that the Godfrey brand is known for in Chicago and Boston. The property is slated to open with 220 rooms, a rooftop pool and a casual steakhouse called About Last Knife.
Fairmont Century Plaza (Century City)
Opening anticipated for summer 2020
AccorHotels’ Fairmont badge will take over the landmark Century Plaza hotel in Century City when the property reopens as Fairmont Century Plaza next year. The redeveloped 5-star property will boast 400 guestrooms and 63 luxury residences. Expected amenities include a swanky rooftop pool, a world-class 14,000-sqaure-foot spa, and 24-hour fitness centre.
Grupo Habita Project (Arts District, Downtown)
Opening anticipated for summer 2020
The first L.A. project for Grupo Habita, a hotel group that develops some of the hippest hotels in Mexico, Chicago, and New York, will take over a 109-year-old brick warehouse in the Arts District transforming it with modern accommodations, a rooftop lounge, garden and pool.
W Los Angeles Downtown (South Park, Downtown)
Opening anticipated for 2020
The 250-room W Los Angeles Downtown will be located across the street from L.A. LIVE and STAPLES Center and will be the W brand’s third location in Los Angeles. The hotel will feature a spa, outdoor pool deck and destination restaurants. It will boast approximately 15,000 square feet of meeting and event space perfect for the modern business traveller.
Thompson Hollywood (Hollywood)
Opening anticipated for 2020
Two Roads Hospitality’s Thompson lifestyle brand, which previously operated The Hollywood Roosevelt, will return to the buzzing Hollywood neighbourhood with a new property on Wilcox Avenue between Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards. The 190-room hotel is being built by Dream Hollywood developer Relevant Group and will house meeting and events space, a fitness centre and a rooftop pool deck.
Tommie Hotel (Hollywood)
Opening anticipated for 2020
With lush greenspace and an array of communal amenities, the Tommie Hotel is designed for young professionals, artists and entrepreneurs. The Tommie Hotel Los Angeles will sit at the intersection of Wilcox and Selma Avenues in Hollywood, adjacent to the existing Mama Shelter hotel. The 212-room hotel also comes from the Two Roads Hospitality brand and Relevant Group developers.

The Dutch hotel chain citizenM in partnership with BLVD Hospitality group will open an 11-story, 315-room property at the corner of Spring and 4th. citizenM Los Angeles Downtown will be an affordable yet luxurious property that is walking distance to Grand Central Market, Angels Flight Railway and the iconic Bradbury Building.
The Cambria Hotel Los Angeles – Spring Street (Historic Core, Downtown)

Another exciting new property for Downtown L.A.’s Historic Core, The Cambria Hotel is set to occupy 13 stories in an adaptive reuse project of a 1927 building that once housed the Los Angeles Police Department Vice Squad. The 180-room hotel will target both leisure and business travellers and offer an array of high-tech amenities. Guests can look forward to a state-of-the-art fitness centre, 8,000 square feet of unique meeting space and locally-sourced onsite dining.
Park Hyatt at Oceanwide Plaza (South Park, Downtown)

Oceanwide Plaza, the mixed-use project being built adjacent to STAPLES Center and L.A. LIVE, will include L.A.’s first hotel under the Park Hyatt luxury badge. The Park Hyatt Los Angeles will have 184 rooms, including 34 suites, meeting and events space, a swimming pool, and access to the retail and amenity podium known as The Collection at Oceanwide Plaza.

Spring 2020
LA Plaza Cocina will be the first museum and teaching kitchen dedicated to Mexican food when it opens in Downtown L.A.’s Olvera Street at LA Plaza Village. The multi-disciplinary venue will aim to celebrate and educate visitors on Mexico’s culinary heritage, from its indigenous roots to its contemporary interpretations, through an array of exhibitions, cooking classes, lectures, workshops, and culinary festivals.

Korean American National Museum (Koreatown)
2022
The Korean American National Museum’s first permanent location will begin construction in the heart of L.A.’s Koreatown neighbourhood in 2020. The museum’s mission is to preserve and interpret the history, experiences, culture and achievements of Americans from Korean ancestry. Designed by Los Angeles-based Morphosis Architects, the location will be home to a rooftop garden and an interior styled to the classic courtyard plan of the traditional Korean Hanok in a fluid, interconnected ring of galleries, meeting rooms and offices.
Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (Mid-City)

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is bringing the world’s leading film sciences museum to L.A.’s Miracle Mile. This exciting project is designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Renzo Piano, and will encompass six stories of state-of-the-art galleries, exhibition spaces, movie theatres, educational areas and special event spaces. Inaugural exhibitions will include a retrospective of legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki and Making of: The Wizard of Oz.
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art (Exposition Park, Downtown)

Los Angeles will welcome the 275,000-square-foot, $1-billion Lucas Museum of Narrative Art to Downtown L.A.’s Exposition Park. Works on display will come from George Lucas’ personal collection of art, which consists of approximately 10,000 paintings and illustrations along with Hollywood memorabilia from films such as “Star Wars” and “The Ten Commandments.”

“Manet and Modern Beauty”

Édouard Manet was known as the Impressionist generation’s great painter of modern Paris. Developed in partnership between J. Paul Getty Museum and the Art Institute of Chicago, Manet and Modern Beauty is the first-ever exhibition to explore the last years of Manet’s short life and career. On display will be stylish portraits, delicate pastels and vivid scenes of cafes and gardens all centred on Manet’s fascination with fashion, flowers and feminine beauty.

“Natural History of Horror”

Opening just in time for Halloween and running through spring 2020, Natural History of Horror examines how scientific discoveries shaped the monstrous characters of four major Universal movies: Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein, and Creature from the Black Lagoon. “Shirin Neshat: I Will Greet the Sun Again”

Iranian-born visual artist Shirin Neshat’s exhibition I Will Greet the Sun Again will be on display at the Broad from mid-October to mid-February, marking the largest installation of Neshat’s 30-year career. More than 230 photographs and eight immersive video installations will offer a glimpse into the evolution of Neshat’s artistic journey as she explores topics of exile, displacement, and identity with beauty and poetic grace. Subjects in her work are real people who have lived through political turmoil such as the Arab Spring and Iran’s Green Movement.

Stanley Kubrick was 17-years-old when he sold his first photograph to Look magazine in 1945. He later went on to become one of film’s most renowned directors, known for such classics as 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) and A Clockwork Orange (1971). Traveling to Los Angeles from New York City, Through a Different Lens magnifies Kubrick’s early talent for capturing human interactions and dynamic storytelling.

Under a Mushroom Cloud: Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and the Atomic Bomb will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II. Through displays of artefacts owned by bombing victims, photographs, texts, and contemporary artworks, the goal of this special exhibit is to shed light on the painful history and create a safe space for dialogue in hopes that no such event occurs again.

SoFi Stadium (South Bay)
Summer 2020
The 70,000-seat SoFi Stadium at Hollywood Park will house L.A.’s two NFL teams upon opening: the Los Angeles Chargers and the 2019 NFC Conference Champion Los Angeles Rams. The state of the art, open-air stadium will host Super Bowl LVI in 2022, the College Football National Championship game in 2023, and the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2028 Olympics. The venue is being billed as future of sports and entertainment, and a Taylor Swift concert will usher in the complex on July 25 and 26.
Los Angeles Convention Center (South Park, Downtown)
February 2022
An estimated $1.25-billion project will transform the Convention Center and adjacent L.A. LIVE into a fully integrated 100-acre meetings and conventions destination with over 2 million square feet of total event space; 2,240 on-site hotel rooms; 20 restaurants; unique venues and more. The entire campus project is expected to be fully complete and operational by February 2022 for the Super Bowl Fan Fest.

Jonathan Whitener and Lien Ta of Here’s Looking At You will open All Day Baby in the former Samosa House location on Sunset Boulevard in Silver Lake this fall. Chef Ray Garcia of Broken Spanish fame has partnered with Beau Laughlin of Kettle Black, Sawyer and Atrium on the upcoming opening of Trademark. Set to open this fall, Trademark will serve lunch and dinner with a rotating seasonal California-style menu in the 80-seat space on the corner of Wilshire and Figueroa.

Fall 2019
Famed Mexico City Chef Enrique Olvera who considered the master of modern Mexican food, and Mexican-American Chef Daniela Soto-Innes, will open two highly-anticipated standalone projects in one space in the Arts District. Damien will focus on botanicals and seafood in a 160-seat space. Ditriot will focus on casual dining serving mostly vegetarian tacos.
Death & Co. (Arts District, Downtown)
Fall 2019
Notable New York City-born cocktail bar Death & Co., considered one of America’s greatest, will come to the popular 3rd Street stretch of the Arts District later this year. The 3,000-square-foot bar and kitchen will have a menu like NYC’s East Village location as well as a secondary bar in the back of the venue reserved for private events.
Bicyclette (Westside)
December 2019
Husband and wife duo Walter and Margarita Manzke will open Bicyclette in the combined space of former restaurants Sotto and Picca in the Pico-Robertson neighbourhood this fall. The restaurant will be a French bistro and the dinner service will be like the one found at the duo’s other restaurant Republique.
Tartine Silver Lake (Silver Lake)
December 2019
Tartine Silver Lake will be the third instalment of the San Francisco-based Tartine outfit in Los Angeles after The Manufactory opened at ROW DTLA in January and Tartine Sycamore in Hollywood this past summer. Tartine Silver Lake will occupy prime real estate at the Sunset Junction corner and will serve a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu in addition to all-day coffee and baked goods.

James Beard Award winner and Michelin-starred Chef Nancy Silverton will open The Barish, a large-scale Italian steakhouse, at the historic Hollywood Roosevelt as part of a revamp of the hotel’s dining options ahead of awards season. The restaurant will specialise in meat focused dishes and baked pastas and will feature a wood-fired grill oven in the centre of the dining room.

St. John (Culver City)
Fall 2020
Fergus Henderson and Trevor Gulliver will open the first outpost of London’s famed nose-to-tail restaurant St. John at The Platform in Culver City next year. With more details to be announced, the L.A. location is likely to offer an all-day bakery in addition to regular dinner hours.
San Pedro Public Market (San Pedro)
Phase one by 2021
The Los Angeles waterfront will see dramatic improvements to its dining options as early as 2021. The new San Pedro Public Market will feature a 15-stall food hall, five restaurants next to the waterfront and an outdoor garden seating that is both pet and family-friendly. Once the second phase of construction is complete, the San Pedro Public Market will house retail shops, a 5,000-seat waterfront amphitheatre concert venue, playgrounds, recreation areas, waterfront taxis and cruises.

The Cliffdiver is the latest restaurant to open in the thriving community of Malibu. V DTLA occupies the gorgeous space that was once a 1920’s jewellery shop and most recently Malo along the buzzy dining hub of 7th street in Downtown L.A. V DTLA was cofounded by Christian Lagerlöf and Benjamin Calleja and features graffiti walls, art deco furniture and an ornate carved ceiling. The split-level location is billed as a social dining hub, which serves morning coffees and baked goods for breakfast. For lunch and dinner, patrons will find a menu complete with New American dishes and handcrafted cocktails.
Revelator: Bar Avalon (Echo Park)
August 2019
Revelator: Bar Avalon opened along the Echo Park stretch of Sunset Boulevard at the Mohawk Collective as a hybrid New American restaurant, coffee shop and wine bar. Hailing from Atlanta, the Revelator brand is known for their coffee cafes along the East Coast and L.A.’s Bar Avalon now marks the company’s first outpost in the western United States.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema (Financial District, Downtown)

After years of anticipation, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema opened this past summer at The Bloc in Downtown L.A., a mixed-use dining, shopping and office complex. The theatre includes 12 dine-in screening rooms and the Video Vortex, a video rental concept within Alamo Drafthouse housing more than 40,000 Blu-ray and DVD titles and a quirky, analogue themed bar with 48 craft beers on tap.

Nic’s on Beverly is a plant-based restaurant by Nic Adler and a collective of L.A. creatives including Executive Chef Ryan Ososky. The casual eatery serves a variety of cuisines in a vegan-friendly form. The Tijuana-style Tacos 1986, which started as a Hollywood stand, opened their first brick and mortar in Downtown Los Angeles’ Historic Core in late June. The extra cheesy tacos, created by Victor Delgado and Jorge “Joy” Alvarez, are popular on social media and have gained positive acclaim from restaurant critics like the LA Times.

Chef Chad Colby, formerly of Chi Spacca, opened his first solo venture along Beverly Boulevard in the newly-dubbed “East Larchmont Village.” Antico is a rustic Italian spot untethered to any region with an emphasis on wood-fired cuisine. The menu heavily features grilled meats, prepared vegetables and handmade pasta classics.

New Art Murals (Terminal 1 and Tom Bradley International Terminal)
On Display Now
New art is on display at LAX this fall as part fo the ongoing Art Program at LAX in partnership with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Floragalora by Pat Warner is now on display in Terminal 1, Departures alongside Rhizomatic Variations by Marianne Sadowski, both focused on L.A.’s floral landscapes. In Terminal 1, Arrivals the mural Passing Rose and Hanagurama by Michiko Yao represents women in Japanese and American cultures. Lastly, Forest, for the Trees curated by Julie Kornblum is on display in Tom Bradley International Terminal, Arrivals. This installation features knitted, crocheted, woven and other fiber-based artworks that reference and reinterpret the ecological features of old-growth forests from over 40 artists.

LAX guests can now save time by pre-ordering food and shopping online for select locations. The enhancements to the shopping and dining experience at LAX include the launch of a digital product catalogue and digital food ordering services, powered by Grab. Guests can pre-order food on their mobile device, Facebook messenger app or desktop/laptop computer by accessing FlyLAX.com and following the link to “Dining, Shopping and More” and choosing one of the participating terminals, or by going directly to LAXShopDine.com.
LAX Presents Performance Series
Now through December 10, 2019
Now in its third year, LAX Presents brings 38 performances in eclectic styles such as vintage West Coast rock, jazz piano and classical ensembles. The 2019 season more than doubles the number of performances from 2018 and now features 14 diverse acts, compared to the nine in 2018.
PUP Program

Pets Unstressing Passengers (PUP) is a therapy dog program at LAX providing stress relief and comfort to passengers through warm and furry interactions with pets. Certified by the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, therapy dogs and handlers roam the departures levels in the gate areas of each terminal, visiting travellers awaiting flights to provide comfort, as well as vital airport information.

LAX Modernisation Program
Through 2023
In operation since 1928, LAX is amid a multibillion-dollar modernisation program, the largest public works project in Los Angeles history. It includes a new, 12-gate Midfield Satellite Concourse (MSC) which will serve as an addition to Tom Bradley International Terminal, set to open in 2020, and the Landside Access Modernisation Program (LAMP), which includes a 2.25-mile Automated People Mover (APM) that will connect three on-airport stations to Metro Rail and transit services, set to open by 2023.
