Celebrate the Magical Loy Krathong Festival @ 137 Pillars House 5 – 8 November 2014

The magical Thai Loy Kratong Festival takes place on the evening of the full moon on 6 November 2014.

Celebrations include floating decorated “krathongs” (little boats) made out of leaves and flowers, together with incense and candles, in rivers, canals, ponds and pools. The festival is believed to originate from an ancient practice of paying respect to the spirit of the waters, and to bring good luck in the year ahead. During the festival the unique rice paper lanterns (Khom Loys) are lit and gently drift high up into the night sky making a spectacular sight.

137 Pillars House have created a special package to celebrate this charming festival which includes Lanna (northern) entertainment and a sumptuous traditional local “Kad Mua ‘buffet dinner. Guests will also learn how to make their own krathong.
