Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ Iconic Sheraton Brand Celebrates Return To Melbourne With Grand Opening Event
Sheraton Melbourne Hotel, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: HOT), last night marked their official opening with a glamorous launch party attended by 200 VIPs, dignitaries, celebrities and corporate guests.
Victorian Premier, the Hon Dr Denis Napthine, MP joined key Sheraton Melbourne Hotel staff, Starwood Hotels and Resorts representatives, hotel owners – Golden Age Development Group, as well as the acting consul general of the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China to officially unveil the hotel’s opening plaque.
The Honourable Dr Denis Napthine, MP, Premier of Victoria said “It’s fantastic to see the Sheraton name return to Melbourne after a nine-year absence.”
He added, “This new hotel will not only be a major drawcard for tourists who are visiting Victoria for one of our world-renowned major events, but also for business with the facility also featuring a floor for conference and convention facilities capable of hosting more than 200 people.”
“We are proud to have opened this new hotel under the Sheraton flag, the fifth in Australia” commented general manager Hal Philp. “Our grand unveiling was a fitting launch and we were delighted that we were joined by so many Melbourne dignitaries and VIPs.”
Sheraton guests mingled in the Ballroom among deluxe food stations, offering an assortment of delicacies and unique culinary offerings together with exclusive wines of the world.

Owned by Golden Age Development Group, the hotel marks the return of the iconic Sheraton brand to Melbourne after nearly a decade and is the first of five Sheraton hotels to open in the Pacific region in 2014.
