Italian Champions Juventus Touch Down in Sydney
Deputy Premier and Minister for Tourism and Major Events Andrew Stoner today welcomed the arrival of Italian football giants Juventus to Sydney.
On Sunday Juventus will play in an Australian exclusive, secured by the NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, in partnership with Football Federation Australia.
“I am delighted to welcome one of the world’s oldest football clubs and reigning Series A champions Juventus to Sydney, Australia’s premier major events city,” Mr Stoner said.
“I join sporting fans from across the nation when I express my excitement at their arrival in Sydney and the opportunity to see them in action against the Foxtel A-League All Stars only in Sydney at ANZ Stadium this Sunday.
“A highlight for fans will no doubt be the chance to witness A-League All Star Captain Alessandro Del Piero line up against some of his former Juventus team mates, eleven of whom featured in the recent FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
“By hosting this champion team, Sydney and NSW will again be on show to the world, confirming our position as Australia’s home of major events. Juventus have an impressive following, with a world-wide fan base of 250 million, including 1.4 million Juventus faithful in Australia,” Mr Stoner said.
NSW Minister for Sport and Recreation Stuart Ayres encouraged people attending the match to come early and enjoy the pre-game festivities.
“This match is a must-see and Sydney Olympic Park will be buzzing with excitement as Sydney’s football fans will have a rare opportunity to witness so much international superstar football talent,” Mr Ayres said.
“I encourage everyone to take public transport to the game and plan to arrive early to take advantage of the exciting pre-game entertainment and great range of cafés, bars and restaurants that will be open extended hours.”
