Rose Bay Resort Manager Paul McLaughlin said it is a truly breathtaking natural encounter to witness a turtle nesting and seeing the baby hatchlings later in the season as they make a quick dash to the ocean.
“It is an incredible experience to see these rare animals land on the beaches in Bowen each year and we hope that we will see another great year for our turtles.”
The turtle season from November to March is probably Bowen’s best kept secret. Visitors to the friendly seaside town can witness this incredible journey of life at the award-winning beaches surrounding Bowen during turtle nesting season.
From November to March each year, Bowen’s beaches are the nesting grounds for flatback turtles and some green sea turtles with their eggs hatching approximately 6-8 weeks after they have been laid.
