The Whitsundays has a brand new, land based tourism experience.
Whitsunday Segway Tours commenced operations in December with tours operating in the Conway National Park and along Airlie Beach’s scenic Bicentennial Boardwalk.
Owner Zak Kelly said he was excited to launch the business which had been almost two years in the planning.

“We have purchased 8 brand new, top of the range i2 genuine Segways which are solid and stable, with multi-terrain capabilities offering a smooth ride for our guests,” Mr Kelly said.
“We offer two different tours – the first through the Conway National Park commencing at Brandy Creek Road going 9km into the rainforest to Impulse Creek for morning tea; and the second is a sunset tour along the Bicentennial Boardwalk in Airlie Beach, with a stop at Abell Point Marina’s ‘Barcelona’ for Tapas,” he said.
“Having another land based activity will add to the increasingly diverse product offering in Airlie Beach, and shows visitors a different perspective of the area,”
“Both tours are led by an experienced local guide who will offer a personalised experience for our small groups of guests,”
“Guests do not need any previous experience – Segways are very easy to ride and included in our tour is an induction for each rider to ensure they are comfortable,”
“We have invested a lot of time in ensuring we are offering a unique experience of the region, on the very best equipment, and we are excited that all of that has come to fruition with our first guests already raving about the experience.”
Whitsunday Segway Tours is open for guests aged 12 and over, weighing between 40kg – 145kg, with the ability to stand unaided. The tours can operate in most weather conditions, subject to safety requirements.
Guests can book direct via the company’s website or through local agents and tour desks at accommodation throughout Airlie Beach.

About the i2 Segway:
Why walk when you can glide! To move forward or backward, the rider just leans slightly forward or backward. To turn left or right, the rider simply moves the LeanSteer frame left or right. With the i2 you get the sense of power and speed, yet you also feel a sense of safety and absolute control. It all feels natural, safe and instinctive. As per Queensland legislation, the Segways are speed limited to 12km/hr. Segway riders are required to wear a helmet, but do not need any previous experience.
