Leading Australian accommodation provider, Mantra Group, will manage the five-star hotel within the new M Docklands development set to open in 2015. The 68-room apartment hotel will operate under the group’s luxury Peppers brand and will be known as Peppers Docklands Melbourne.
Construction on the new development, situated immediately adjacent to Etihad Stadium on LaTrobe Street in Melbourne’s Docklands precinct, is due to commence early 2014. The hotel will be part of the $100 million M Docklands project being developed by Capital Alliance Investment Group.
“We are very particular about using the Peppers brand on the right property, and this development presents us with an excellent opportunity to secure a presence of appropriate scale and quality for Peppers in a prominent location and we are confident it will be embraced by both locals and visitors to Melbourne,” said Mantra Group CEO, Bob East.
Accompanying the 68 one-bedroom apartments, Peppers will manage an on-site restaurant, pool & gym, and lobby area with 24-hour reception and full service concierge. Select hotel services will also be available to residents of the building.
It will be the first Peppers property in Melbourne CBD, accompanying four properties in regional Victoria located in Daylesford, Mt Hotham, Mornington Peninsula and Torquay. Peppers Docklands Melbourne will join six Mantra apartment hotels located in Melbourne’s CBD and one at Tullamarine Airport plus a BreakFree hotel also in the CBD, all managed by Mantra Group.
Peppers Docklands Melbourne will be the second new build Peppers CBD development to open with Peppers Dunmore Brisbane in Fortitude Valley due to open late 2014. Both will follow the successful model established by the Group’s first metropolitan property, Peppers Broadbeach on the Gold Coast which opened in 2010 and consistently rates as No.1 on TripAdvisor.
M Docklands is a mixed-use development incorporating residential apartments, serviced offices, retail areas, and interactive public spaces, with the hotel component of the project to be completed in the last quarter of 2015.
