Burrawang West Station – a real Australian outback experience just one hour flight from Sydney

Stretching across 12,000 acres of Lachlan River Country, Burrawang West is a fully operational sheep stud and cattle station offering guests the chance to experience outback Australia from its luxurious homestead retreat.

From whip cracking lessons with the station manager and stockman Bill Royal, and yarn spinning with an Aussie champion, to fine dining under the stars, luxurious boutique lodges and a quintessential station homestead, Burrawang West Station is a unique and accessible escape.

Burrawang West Station owner Graham Pickles says the retreat offers luxurious accommodation for couples, small groups and corporate guests along with unique Australian experiences.

“People love having a real Australian outback experience in complete luxury,” said Mr Pickles.

“And the beauty of Burrawang is that just one hour from Sydney you can be immersed in an authentic outback experience.”

“What we do on the station is not for show – it’s a real working farm that produces some of Australia’s finest quality beef and lamb and is the home of the premium brand, Burrawang Beef.”

“It’s one of the few places in Australia where guests can get involved in the daily station activities, meet the stockmen, and also enjoy complete luxury.”

“Burrawang is also the perfect setting for senior executives and key decision-makers to work and play in complete privacy and confidentiality,” said Mr Pickles, himself an international business executive with 25 years experience in the distribution and technology sectors.

Accommodation and Facilities

Built in the 1990s by Japanese corporate owner Kajima, the homestead was designed for private use by Kajima’s top executives and their special guests.

No expense was spared in creating Burrawang Retreat’s magnificent country estate which includes a sumptuously appointed Australian homestead offering traditional elegance, creative fine dining, living and dining areas, a billiards rooms, bar and extensive cellar.

A guest office, two flood-lit tennis courts, a 20-metre swimming pool and his ‘n’ hers saunas are designed for comfort, as are the twelve suites located within four beautifully appointed and fully equipped air conditioned boutique lodges.

Burrawang West Station showcases a multi-million dollar private art collection assembled by Melbourne based art critic, John Buckley. Tastefully incorporated throughout Burrawang’s homestead, boutique lodges and conference centre, the paintings, sculptures, photographs and other artworks/artefacts represent colonial and contemporary Australian artists from Gould to Valamanesh.
