Australia Day Long Weekend Set to Be a Cracker With Another Laugh Your Pants Off Confirmed
Jupiters Hotel & Casino will kick start the Australia Day long weekend in 2015 in cracking style with
another hilarious Laugh Your Pants Off bill confirmed for Friday January 23.
What better way to celebrate our Aussie joker culture than with a bumper line-up of home-grown comedy masters taking to the Jupiters Theatre stage for a night of non-stop laugher. The seventh instalment in the series will feature Judith Lucy, Peter Rowsthorn, Lawrence Mooney, Troy Kinne, Ellen Briggs, Tahir, Ronny Chieng, Steve Allison and Jennifer Burke.
Managing Director Queensland Geoff Hogg said the hit series had attracted an ever-expanding legion of fans hungry for more of the one-night-only mash-up style comedy Laugh Your Pants Off has become renowned for.
“We just enjoyed another sold-out Laugh Your Pants Off concert headlined by Jimeoin, so as long as the demand is there, we’ll continue to bring top class acts to the Gold Coast,” Mr Hogg said.
A best-selling author, regular on the TV and film scene and killer stand-up genius, Judith Lucy is without a doubt a household name in the entertainment industry. With a career spanning more than two decades, Lucy is famed for her painfully honest and sharply observed wit and a joke rate that is second to none.
The comedy veteran has sold out countless theatrical runs in Australia and has taken her shows to Montreal, Edinburgh and London’s West End. She’s also appeared in feature films such as Crackerjack and most recently scored a role in the hit production The Sapphires which made it to the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.
Peter Rowsthorn is a high energy, fast-paced stand-up comedian one minute and a measured character actor the next. A masterful MC of corporate and private functions, Rowsthorn has been performing his slick and blistering stand-up for almost 20 years.
He has appeared regularly on hit shows Thank God You’re Here, Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation and most recently enjoyed roles in Underbelly: Squizzy and the ABC series It’s A Date, but Rowsthorn is probably still best known as long-suffering husband and pants-man Brett Craig on Kath & Kim.
Lawrence Mooney has hit the microphone with his edgy humour and unique view of the human condition for twenty years and he is now at the top of his game. One of the industry’s most celebrated comics, his brutally honest and hilarious insights have earned him Best National Act 2013 Perth Comedy Festival and Best Comedy 2011 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Mooney returned to ABC2 this year with his own show, Dirty Laundry Live, a weekly comic dissection of the world of celebrity, which is fast becoming a cult favourite. While his 2014 tour of Lawrence Mooney is a Stupid Liar continues to sell out and receive rave reviews.
With his laidback charm and flare for observational wit, Troy Kinne has been working the comedy circuit for ten years and in his early days won almost every new comic competition in the country. These days Kinne is known for his regular spots on Fox FM, Network Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention and as star-creator of his own hit sketch comedy show KINNE on 7Mate.
Tickets to Laugh Your Pants Off are $49 with dinner and show packages from $59, and are on sale now through Ticketek at ticketek.com.au, on 132 849 or from the Jupiters Box Office.
