New route gives Australians direct access to Fiji’s capital and stunning east-coast islands from Sydney
Fiji Airways, Fiji’s national airline, will take its inaugural direct service from Sydney to Suva this afternoon. This direct service from Australia to the Fijian capital offers Australians even greater connectivity to Fiji.
From today, Fiji Airways will offer twice-weekly direct flights between Sydney to Suva, operated by its B737-700 aircraft. The direct services will operate on Mondays and Fridays, with a morning departure from Suva (10.15am FJT) and an afternoon departure from Sydney (2.20pm AEST).
This new flight route will provide greater connectivity to Suva, Fiji’s capital and Pacific Harbour, the adventure capital of Fiji as well as the beautiful tropical outer islands of Beqa and Vatulele. The new route will also allow much more ease and convenience for those travelling for business, visiting family or holidaying in Fiji in this region.
Stefan Pichler, Fiji Airways Managing Director and CEO comments: “We’re excited about the introduction of this new service, which will allow Australian travellers to further explore and experience all that Fiji has to offer. The introduction of the direct Sydney to Suva flight will not only open up tourism for Suva, Pacific Harbour and surrounding islands, but also provide more convenient travel options for Government and business travelers. The new service is a clear demonstration of our desire to grow our network, and boost Fijian tourism and economy.”
Fiji Airways will also launch the first Suva to Samoa (Apia) route in June operated via its subsidiary Pacific Sun (soon to be Fiji Link). This will now allow Apia passengers to connect on a Fiji Airways service to Auckland, Sydney, Brisbane or Nuku’alofa (Tonga) on the same day.
