Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge has been announced as the only Australian property to make the Lonely Planet Top 10 'Extraordinary Places to Stay' List.
The highly respected global travel authority scoured the globe and over 80,000 author-reviewed hotels to create its inaugural list which saw Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge come in at number five amongst an eclectic and highly regarded list of ‘Extraordinary’ accommodation choices.
Set in one of Australia’s most iconic locations, Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge is situated at the entrance to the spectacular World Heritage listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park.
Its stunning wilderness setting is complemented by the Lodge’s superb variety of contemporary style cabins and suites, a highly acclaimed restaurant and the award winning Waldheim Alpine Spa which boasts some of the most tranquil views across the lush natural surroundings.
The Lodge is encircled by ancient towering forests, mountain scenery and clean glacial lakes and streams, crisscrossed with over 20 walking trails for every fitness level. Activities on offer include guided or self-guided trekking, mountain biking, horse riding, fly fishing and canoeing to name a few.
“We are delighted and somewhat humbled to be included in such an elite and, indeed extraordinary, list of places to stay across the world,” said Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge General Manager, Leigh Reid.
“Cradle Mountain is truly a special part of the world and we strive to complete a guest’s experience of the region with a memorable stay at Peppers.”
LonelyPlanet.com Editor Tom Hall, part of the expert panel who selected the finalists, says, “We’re delighted with our first ever list of top hotels. This collection is one of a kind, we believe, as it’s put together by the most well-travelled people on earth. At Lonely Planet we’ve been giving recommendations to travellers about where to stay for 40 years. Our guidebook authors provide their honest opinion and never take freebies in exchange for positive coverage so you can trust in our reviews.”
Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge joined the respected Australian Peppers brand in March 2012. It has continued its ongoing commitment to fine food and wine experiences and will this year celebrate the 20th year of hosting Tasmania’s premier culinary event ‘Tastings at the Top’ on 23-24 May.
The Lodge can be reached via a scenic one hour drive from Devonport or a two hour drive from Launceston.
