MV Discovery, up for disposal this year |
Facing losses likely to tally more than £14 million for 2013, All Leisure Group will sell one of its cruise ships this year.
The company owns the brands Voyages of Discovery, Swan Hellenic and Hebridean Island Cruises. MV Discovery sailed under charter with Cruise & Maritime Voyages (CMV).
Ian Smith group chief executive of All Leisure Group said: “We have surplus capacity and we will therefore sell MV Discovery at the end of summer. We will, of course, fully honour our current season contract commitment to CMV.”
MV Voyager (formerly the Alexander von Humboldt) |
Voyages of Discovery currently operates the 556-passenger MV Voyager (formerly the Alexander von Humboldt).
CMV’s fleet currently consists of Marco Polo, Discovery and Astor, as well as the river ship, Vienna I. CMV recently announced the acquisition of German line, TransOcean Kreuzfahrten, which involves year-round operation of the 620-passenger liner, Astor.
