TOURISM FIJI WEATHER UPDATE NO. 3A

Nadi, Fiji – 1600 hours, 02 February 2012

Tourism Fiji advises a general easing of strong wind and heavy rain has resulted in the mostly unaffected tourism infrastructure gradually resuming full operations.
Official National Weather Forecasting Centre strong wind warnings remain in place for Viti Levu, the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands while some parts of the country continue to experience occasional bouts of heavy rain.
However all indicators point towards steadily improving weather across Fiji.
International flights into the country have continued to operate as normal across the week and domestic carriers including Pacific Sun have maintained Nadi-Suva flights and flights from Nadi and Suva to Vanua Levu.
Domestic passengers are being advised that flights to other outer-island destinations may still be affected by the weather and should check www.airpacific.com for further information.
In addition to Pacific Sun, both Northern Air and Island Hoppers helicopter services have resumed full operations and Pacific Island Seaplane flights are also expected to recommence regular services.
A help desk, set up and operated by Airports Fiji Limited, is continuing to assist with passenger enquiries at Nadi International Airport.
On the water, South Sea Cruises/Awesome Adventures had advised it is operating limited services into the Mamanuca Islands but has cancelled Yasawa Island services until the 3rd of February.
Captain Cook Cruises has resumed its day cruise program with a Tivua Island cruise in the Mamanucas.
Blue Lagoon Cruises has advised it will commence operation of its scheduled Yasawa Islands cruise from Tuesday, 07 February.
Main roads remain unaffected by the weather enabling all tourism transportation services to operate as usual.
As reported in previous advisories, some roads in Rakiraki in the east of Viti Levu are still closed due to heavy rainfall.
Fiji-bound travellers should continue to contact their resort or airline for additional information.
