Emirates, the official airline of Cricket Australia, today launched an online team tracker that allows cricket fans to map the international and domestic travel of the Australian players.
Available on the official Cricket Australia website, the interactive map details the journeys of the team for the past 18 months and will be updated as the Australian players continue their travels with Emirates, competing in international games around the world.
Australian Cricket Captain Ricky Ponting said: “You’ll not only be able to watch the team travel from city to city, country to country, but also see the results of the matches as they appear.
“It’s a good thing the team gets to travel in comfort with Emirates when travelling overseas given how many kilometres the team covers each year. The Emirates Cricket Australia Team Tracker also allows us to look back and reflect on our extensive journeys and results as well,” he added.
Since November 2006, the team has travelled 165,128 kilometres to the Caribbean, South Africa, India and across Australia.
Stephen Pearse, Emirates’ Australian Vice President said: “The Emirates Cricket Australia Team Tracker is a fun and interactive way for the fans to keep in touch with how far the team is travelling with Emirates overseas and their ongoing results in international tournaments and games.
“We are proud sponsors of the Australian team and look forward to hosting the players on their return from the current Indian tour and across to England in 2009 for the Ashes series.”
Emirates became the Official Airline of the Australian cricket team prior to the first Ashes test in November 2006. The partnership allows the Australian team to travel in unparalleled comfort and style when playing abroad, boosting their levels of preparedness to help maintain the success they have achieved on the world stage.
