Perisher Blue is cruising through its 16th week of what has been an amazing season both on and off the slopes. 17cm of snow settled in the Resort on Monday 15 September bringing the total to 28cm since the beginning of September. Amazingly, more snow is predicted for later today! These snowfalls coupled with a good base have made for great springtime skiing and snowboarding, which should remain right up until the end of the season on Monday 6 October 2008.
Perisher Blue has offered excellent riding conditions across its four resort areas for the majority of the 2008 season. To date the total accumulated snowfall for the season is 317cm, making the 2008 season the best for snowfalls since 2004. July and August were particularly great months with an accumulated 188cm of snow received during July and 87cm in August.
Due to great snowfalls, Perisher Blue was able to open its four Fusion Terrain Parks as well as Australia’s biggest halfpipe, the PlayStation Superpipe by the end of July. What a massive achievement! Tube Town was also a highlight amongst families and thrill seekers and had as many as three specially designed lanes open for guests to enjoy.
Perisher Blue also hosted a number of successful events during the season including; the Coca Cola Wild Winter Weekend, the Burton Australian Open, the Salomon Rail Slide, the Boost Sno Sho, the Pub-to-Pub Classic as well as a host of Interschool competitions. These star-studded events drew a huge crowd to the Resort eager to cheer on the competitors and join in the festive atmosphere.
According to Neil Thew, Public Relations & Business Development Manager, “Overall the season offered excellent skiing and snowboarding. Due to big snowfalls in July and August we should have fantastic springtime conditions right through to the end of the season!”
The Coca-Cola Spring Carnival was a huge success amongst families and holiday-makers. The carnival offered a host of daily entertainment from Saturday 6 September until Sunday 21 September in addition to great springtime skiing and snowboarding. Entertainment for the kids included a jumping castle and appearances by Perisher Blue’s mascots Professor Nugget and friends. There was also LIVE music daily outside Jax Bar & Chargrill for the adults.
It is not too late to make the most of skiing or snowboarding this winter! There is still two weeks left, why not head to the hills for one last snowy foray for the season. The conditions are great and there are still some fantastic deals on offer including:
