Just when you thought you knew all there was to know about the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival 2008 organisers have thrown some new and exciting performers into the mix.
Late last week it was revealed that Dame Malvina Major would be performing at the American Express Gourmet Experience on Sunday June 29.
This signature event makes its debut at the 2008 Festival and will be a magnificent mix of fine food prepared by internationally renowned chefs, matched with reserve wines from Gibbston Valley Winery and now will be topped off by two magical sets by Dame Malvina Major.
Dame Malvina Major is excited about her trip to Queenstown. “It’s been a number of years, at least ten I’d say, since I enjoyed the unique atmosphere of Winter Festival, so I’m greatly looking forward to being there at the end of June.
“One of my *Foundation’s Trustees, Alan Pollock, has invited me several times, so I’m thrilled I have a gap in my diary, allowing me to finally visit Queenstown.”
“I’ve often thought how wonderful it would be to perform at one of the magnificent outdoor venues in the region, so perhaps this fleeting appearance can build some momentum for such an occasion, one summer in the future.”
Another exciting announcement out of Festival headquarters is the inclusion of two special guest performers at the Fluid presents Lucid3 concert.
Lucid 3 will be joined by two guests for their show on Friday July 4 at the Kawarau Falls Station Pavilion as part of the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival. Soul/ blues singer Mark Vanilau from Christchurch will add keys and backing vocals during his guest slot, while guitarist Jol Mulholland, best known for his work with Gasoline Cowboy, will bring his own flourishes to some classic Lucid3 tunes.
Opportunities like this should not be missed so grab some tickets for what will be some of the most memorable Festival experiences.
Keep an eye on the website as organisers are sure to have a few more surprises up their sleeves.
